Springfield, IL's Resident Genius has called it a day. The band's most recent release was a split CD with Boston University professor emeritus Howard Zinn, titled You Can't Blow Up a Social Relationship", which gave the band almost overnight national exposure.
Punknews.org spoke to Jason Perry who confirmed the split and attributed it to some personal difficulties faced by drummer Benjamin Hopper. Perry also explained that the band has recorded 21 new songs which the band will be releasing posthumously.
The new material will be released as Arresting the Constellations…and Junk and the band is promising a less political and more "fun, light-hearted stuff" on the final release.
Last year, various members formed I Shot Lincoln.
