Fake Problems continue to provide us with a series of Dispatches as they tour with Murder By Death through the United States. The band is also preparing to release their new album It's Great to be Alive on February 17 through Side One Dummy Records. The video for "The Dream Team," the album's first single can be viewed here.
Last night was the first of two (three for MBD) shows in Chicago. We played at Schuba's Tavern - a first for us. Really cool venue, perfect size for the show. Murder By Death played acoustic and it was great. Our pal brought some Chicago-exclusive liquor "Jeppson's Malort". It is beyond comprehension how disgusting that drink is. The taste follows you for hours.
Left Chicago around 1pm this "morning" and made a pit stop at a little Chi-town mainstay called "Hooters". The service was disturbing and my bloody mary was really, really thick. Like > or = to tomato soup.
We played a headline show in Dekalb tonight at a pleasant little venue called "The House Cafe". The promoter, staff and attendees were amazing and we had a great time. Again, great to see people so receptive to our new jams, and singing along.
We travelled two hours after the show, and here we are, at the Country Inn in Rock Island, IL. Tomorrow at noon we're going into the Daytrotter studios to record a session, which I am ecstatic for. Ever since I heard of Daytrotter I've wanted to be a part of it somehow. I am literally in ecstasy. I am literally on ecstasy.
Hopefully it doesn't make us too late for our show at Reggie's Live Rock & Roll Rock Club or whatever that place is really called.
Somehow I forgot to mention this in previous postings:
On our way to NYC after the Lancaster show, I was driving on I-95 (I think… that sounds about right…) and all of the sudden I noticed headlights coming at me. Long story short there was a semi-truck heading straight towards us on the wrong side of the road. I did some sweet keanu maneuvering and got us to safety. Really all I did was swiftly change lanes, but it was intense; especially thinking "what if we were coming around a corner and didn't see it…" but y'know… Constant fear of car crash is always there when you spend 3-9 hours a day moving 80 mph.
Okay I've got to get back to marveling at this tranny on Real World Brooklyn. Derek's got a boner.
