Confirming the rumors of a couple of months ago, highly influential band Sunny Day Real Estate has announced a month-long U.S. reunion tour. The band will kick it off with the tour's one date in Canada, September 17 at Vancouver, BC's Commodore Ballroom, before wrapping it up October 16 in their hometown of Seattle at the Paramount Theatre.
Additionally, their label Sub Pop will be reissuing the band's first two albums, 1994's Diary and 1995's LP2, on both CD and LP formats. The albums will be remastered and include rare bonus tracks, as well as newly written liner notes. The release date is September 15.
Widely considered one of the most seminal acts of the emo movement, Sunny Day Real Estate's Diary is considered a classic of the genre. The band first broke up in 1995 before the release of LP2 and reunited in 1997, releasing two more studio albums before disbanding again in 2001 -- 1998's How It Feels to Be Something On and 2000's The Rising Tide. In the meantime, frontman Jeremy Enigk has released several solo albums and also fronts the Fire Theft, which features fellow SDRE members William Goldsmith and Nate Mendel. Both Goldsmith and Mendel have also spent time in Foo Fighters, with Mendel still a current member of that band.
