While it's not a great deal to go on, the Promise Ring have resurfaced, but only in the form of an official Twitter feed. Very little has been heard from the influential band since they split up in 2002 after releasing Wood/Water on Anti- Records. In the intervening years, the band reunited in 2005, and 50% of the band appeared in Maritime and released a handful of records including Human Hearts in 2011.

For some time, rumours were in place that the band would be releasing a retrospective compilation titled It's Not Brain Surgery: The Best Of, but the release never materialized.
