"Where There Is Power There Is Always Resistance" maniacally shifts gears from grindcore to dark metal to straight up hardcore in 14 blasts of two minute rage. It just struck me that the album completely played through before I had more than a few thoughts scribbled down for this review. The band's breakneck speed makes plays off their subject matter in a way that keeps the record buoyant. While it's so easy for a band of this type to get stuck in prolonged moments of sludgy metal growling, but Malefaction's energy keeps things fresh, moving and unrelenting. Compare a metal band to a transport truck. Malefaction is a transport truck careening down a steep hill with the breaks cut.

For a reviewer "devoid of grindcore CDs" this is a decent review. Impressive. The band and this album however, are fucking incredible. This is metal! And good fucking metal! No cheese, no 3 minute slow parts, NO SINGING, and just a lot of fast distorted rage and power. To me this album is more hardcore where their debut album was more grind. Either way a great band! ah! i'm seeing these boys in 2 days. I am a fragile little slovakian boy...what do i do? papa? mama? SATAN! DEATH! DESTRUCTION! AAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGHHH! male faction. this gets the nod for the years most cheezy album title. malefunction is brutal. love this album. I like this band, and I like this cd. Good review. its like the weakerthans gone folk, if by folk you meant killing people with large knives and fishing hooks. |
