Having looked at the bands that have been reviewed on this site I was pleased to see that there is a solid mix between mainstream and underground bands, but the reviews of the older and origional punk bands are few and far between. So I thought it would be a good idea to beef up this section of reviews with the band "STIFF LITTLE FINGERS". Please login or register to post comments. some people have "Never Mind the Bollocks" u numpty, ulster is not a county-its a PROVANCE and although technically there is 9 counties in it,it is generally refered to as northern ireland, ulster is normally just used as another word for northern ireland. most of the songs on this album arent written by them "One island, Two nations! Ulster is british and its people still say NO! " ITS ON THE TWELFTH I LOVE TO WEAR THE SASH MY FATHER WORE"" Great album, possibly better than the Clash S/T. I think that doo-wop part on barbed wire love is kinda odd, but it works well w/the song. without a doubt.....the greatest "REAL" punk album.........of all time One island, Two nations! Ulster is british and its people still say NO! " ITS ON THE TWELFTH I LOVE TO WEAR THE SASH MY FATHER WORE" Up the 'RA! Brits Out! One Ireland! yeah dude alternative ulster- brilliant! fuck the IRA murderous bastards, no surrender! Person below- i thought the review was pretty good, it made me download some of the tracks and i think im gona get the album, ure a player hater. Daz og u r full of shit I bet u dont even have the album. It is a bad review u r just trying to make yourself look cool by knowing a lot about music/SLF and u clearly dont know very much. Worst review ever. i wana be an elf, very good album, great review! you forgot to mention barbed wire love, that song is amazing. This shits on what is called punk these days way too cool for emo wankers greenday arent the only ones influenced by SLF,people regularly leave suspect devices all over the place and as for donating to so called political parties, they def contribute a dollar a bullet, its a farce. here's this review on a band, right... and half the people commenting just go on and on about a movie, an actor, and a completely different band. who gives a shit? i like how someone can't like a band if they play pop punk. amazing. True, one time he said Fugazi was his favourite band Yeah right. A bunch of pop punk bands name drop old school bands for cred these days, the way posers go around saying they like bands they dont just to fit in... this is tom delonge's favorite band. This is to those who are bitching about my comment on slf influencing green day. I never said they sound alike once on this review- green day were influenced by the clash, do they sound like them? blink were influenced by nofx and screaching weasle, do they sound like them? Do fucking Sum 41 sound like Iron Maiden?- NO. I know what was said in High Fedelity but ive heard it from various other sources like interview cd's. High Fidelity is an incredible movie. i first heard of this band from there, too. I first heard of this band from the reference in High Fidelity. Good movie, good band anyone interested should try tracking down the UK version of this disc, which includes the single versions of "Suspect Device" and.. the other singles (its Alternative Ulster, right?) How rad is John Cusack? The soundtrack to GROSSE POINT BLANK...I rest my case. "Lets see... Stiff Little Fingers have done everything from punk to pop punk to ska to country. Yeah dont see how they could ever have influenced greenday. Nope not one bit. Dumbass." "a harder, yet less talented, clash. not a bad band by any means, just not as good as the clash." this album is right up there with the clash' s/t. almost topps it i thought high fidelity was a fucking awesome movie...Jack Black is hilarious Lets see... Stiff Little Fingers have done everything from punk to pop punk to ska to country. Yeah dont see how they could ever have influenced greenday. Nope not one bit. Dumbass. i think its a very good album. all i was saying was that green day and slf aren't very similar in my opinion. thats all. "SLF have about as much in common with green day as my mother has with my masturbatorial fantasies." SLF have about as much in common with green day as my mother has with my masturbatorial fantasies. a harder, yet less talented, clash. not a bad band by any means, just not as good as the clash. thumbs up. definite classic record. The kids who like Blink think the Clash are too hard for them... And, essentially, SLF are a harder Clash... classic punk rock record from a great band. put down that blink 182 record and buy this shit now. Yeah that's what I thought too. And when I heard them say it in the movie, I spat did you lift that comment on SLF influencing Green Day from High Fidelity? sounds weird to me when thats the only place i've heard that before and i've never made the connection between the two. Epitomizes? No, that's not it either.. Perfect 10. One of the classic punk albums of all time. I too thought it was a travesty there were no SLF reviews in the arcives, and even considered writing a review for this album myself. But, alas, I am extremely lazy... best song by tthese dudes ever, tin soldier STIFF LITTLE FINGERS blows away all the competition..... did you lift that comment on SLF influencing Green Day from High Fidelity? sounds weird to me when thats the only place i've heard that before and i've never made the connection between the two. easily one of the top 10 punk albums of all time. right up there with london calling and never mind the bollocks. one of the best albums ever, a rare 10/10. don't forget it also contains classic tracks such as barbed wire love, breakout and the wonderful cover of johnny was. if you don't own this album, why? If you like SLF, then check out the band Suspect Device from Boston. Obviously from their name you can guess who they are influenced by and they have a great album called Boston Massacre. This is one of my favorite SLF albums, good review. One of the few LP's that I still own. This is a classic, I prefer Nobody's Heroes more though. Great album, Great band. It was only re-released on EMI, it originally came out on the Rough Trade label. this is definately one of my favorite albums. I love "Suspect Device." One of the best punk songs ever. |
