I would like to thank Jesse as this review made me laugh so hard. I don't normally get involved in this kind of thing, as i am actually a real hardcore (punk rock) kid who goes to shows and supports this scene and not some internet kid who just thinks they know everything because they saw it one some website. However, i just had to comment on how seriously jesse seems to take his review. Dude i know nothing about you, but you don't need to defend yourself to every kid who thinks you suck, and this is why i am not going to defend our recording. I really don't care what you think, we write this music for ourselves and for the kids who like it.

This recording is actually over 2 years old now with some of the songs being over 4 yrs old. I look back on some of it and cringe too, but it comes from the heart and we are still proud of this, and as long as the kids keep enjoying it, we will keep playing the brand of unoriginal, unintelligent hardcore that you (jesse) digs so much.

By the way jesse, our new full length will be out in a couple of months, you might find we've progressed a little bit both lyrically and musically. You'll probably still hate it, and thats fine with me, because i guess that means we're still playing straight up hardcore, and not acting like we are the most amazing or intellectual band (like most of the frauds and copycats i dare say you revere). I look forward to your review.... i'll need a good laugh to warm me through winter.

(The one out of ten does not reflect my thoughts on this recording but i figured it was dumb to post a review for my own band and if i left it preset to 10 some fucktard would think i actually cared about this shit)

yeah, id like to say that there are alot of dumb comments defending shotpointblank, so ill try and be a bit more intelligent.

This review isn't accurate in the slightest. It is far too opinionated, and doesn't really show any real research of the band.

I think you'll find that if youve seen shotpoint live, and if you actually listen to the disc more than once, youll find they are one of the best bands in aussie hardcore. Sure, its all good for you to sit there in America judging some band, but lets remember that you guys have some fucking horrible bands (eg Found Dead Hanging, Saosin etc). fuck, youve even got The Ataris and Mest playing Hellfest.

honestly, your scene has become watered down and full of poppy shit. At least shotpoint and the aussie scene is keeping it real.

next time, try to keep your opinions out of a review, and do a little research before you pass such a harsh criticism.

Note to non-Australian readers...

All the kids sticking up for SPB are either friends of the band or kids trying to be friends with the band or kids trying in vain to gain some scene points or 'respect'. It's fairly vomit-inducing but that's just the way it is. The review is a fair and accurate review in my opinion.

Jesse, Wether some magazine says hardcore & hardcore punk are different or not doesnt mean shit, when someone says "Hardcore" in relation to this kind of music, it refers to "Hardcore punk"... This is a point ANYONE who knows ANYTHING about this style of music can tell you.

It's like saying Integrity, Cro-mags, Ringworm, Converge (who i seriously think are shit, but list them here for a distinct purpose), Path of resistance, Strife & bands like these arent "Hardcore punk" because they have metal influences clearly audible in their music, if you did say these things, you would be an outright idiot.

sorry, i hate shit like this, but you just shouldnt go spouting off remarks about things which you obviously have little insight on,
and here's a tip for your lackluster reviewing skills, when you review something, you're meant to give descriptive generalised opinions on the reviewed product, and hold back a little on the peronsalised reasons on why you dont like it, this a punk site, not a 'jesse' site.

Listen to the unoriginality of the song. This band is terrible, and I'd rather not see them live. There is nothing intelligent brought to the table with this group. Now your retardedness really shines, kiddo. Firstly, 'Hardcore' isnt just a single word when in regards to this situation, it's meaning is the describing word in the phrase "Hardcore punk rock". To put this as simple as possible, It is used as such, to inform the listener / partaker / performer, that the music is punk rock, that has been taken to a higher level of aggression, The same way that you use the phrases "Hardcore rap", "Hardcore techno" and so on. As for indie rock, indie rock's connections with punk rock are from fagged out old crusty bastards who got sick of punk and went onto form shit bands, so yes, indie rock has connections with punk rock, but it's roots are far from it.

Get educated!

P.S: If you have seen this band live, which you've obviously not, You would understand this band bring an extremely intellegent approach to hardcore, lyrically & verbally, they speak out on issues, both politcal & personal, and dont just rock out like all this spazzed out chaos shit like saetia & hot cross, which somehow have been mistaken for hardcore. Reviews of cds are wack anyway, The essence of punk rock is in the live shows, in the kids at the shows, not at some douchebag judging their band from 10000 miles away on mummys computer.

I do listen to hardcore, actually. These days I listen to a lot more hardcore than any other genre. This band still blows. There is nothing original about any of the music. The lyrics suck ass. And both Hatebreed and Madball suck. Just look at the Madball review. Anyone with any sort of taste in music thinks Madball sucks. And Hatebreed are a stupid tough-guy jock-rock band.

And as I've said before: if you don't take the time to utilize proper grammar, punctuation, or capitalization, you might as well not even comment on anything. You seriously look like an unintelligent douchebag. Come on people.

It works for some bands, i.e. Minor Threat and the like, but c'mon, show some musicianship and originality.

For Buscemi-

Scott purposefully sends me bad CDs to review, because, well, I told him to. One night we were chatting and he was talking about how many bad CDs he gets, and I told him to give them to me, and that I would review them. Every once and a while, a gem gets slipped in there, and every once and a while I'll review a classic album that is missing a review.
