Score is for reviewing hip-hop bands at punknews. Punk As Fuck Whoops. Forgot to rate the album as low as possible. Also, that should've read "you're NOT punk just because you listen to so-called punk music"... dickweeds... douchebags. lets see, what else? Dickweeds, who gives a god damn how punk they were in 1987? They're clearly not punk now. Blink 182 you can almost understand, because they at least emulate punk.....sorta... but this is just ridiculous. Barry Manilow could say he was influenced by punk. Ever hear "Mandy"? That song is waaaay more punk than anything the beastie boys have ever done. Wait... that might not be true, but nonetheless it doesn't matter who influenced a band. you're punk just because you like punk music. it takes a lot more than that. these fuckers are currently not punk, and therefore have no place here. This isn't one of those grey area things like blink 182 or good charlotte, where they aren't punk but sorta sound like it so there's no point in bitiching. These douchebags are flat out not even a little bit punk. There's no confusion. There's no grey area. They're waaaay across the line. Props to the kid that promoted my Scenepointblank review - seriously that means a lot to me. does anyone know when the new bad brains disc that adam of the beasties produced is gonna come out.???? I havent heard this album but old Beastie Boys is great and to the person who said they have no place on punknews.org, they used to play punk, are highly influenced by it, and even have straight up punk rock songs on Check Your Head and License To Ill so that comment was a little stupid. Its not like they reviewed the new Juvenile album or something. Pitchfork is overrated and inconsistent. the new jay-z album is tight unlike all of your assholes, faggots! That review is terrible. And this is coming from the kid who did that "interview with the artist in the ambulance" concept review. To the person who said Pitchfork's reviews were like high school: you're dead on, but not in the way you think. I remember trying to impress my teachers by throwing out all the big words I could, I'd ramble on aimlessly and bullshit my way through 10 page essays without making any real points. Of course, since the writing was so flowery, the teachers gave me good grades anyway. So yeah, Pitchfork really does remind me of high school. ah, that's derogatory. So who's going to review the new Jay-Z album? um .. wtf. this review sucks worse than anything i ever did ever. Better review: i think it would of been easier to read if there names weren't so similar. I also begged Adam to post it. Mostly to see the community writhe in anguish. OH THE JOY! i really don't like gay people This site's reviews are to elementary school as Pitchfork reviews are to High School. yup, I'm gonna bitch too... "Uh, I'm gonna sit here and bitch...uh-huh-huh" What a great review. I wish more review were like this! It's funny and totally hip. Cool! So, are you guys going to sit there and bitch, or are you going to write a review? Ira Gilligan: Please, call me Ira. I don’t like Gilligan. get this damn review off of here and put one up that is actually coherent... Review, terrible, - album, brilliant-oldpunker- "True, but its indeed the staff who has the decision to post all reviews, whether they write it or not. If they post it, they endorse it. " Review sucks sweaty man balls and so do the Beastie Faggots for that copy protection bullshit. Jeez, everyone's getting really bent out of shape over this whole copy protection thing. If you read, it's only for outside the US and UK. I feel bad for the international people, but people here need to relax. There's nothing on there for most of us. True, but its indeed the staff who has the decision to post all reviews, whether they write it or not. If they post it, they endorse it. Oops, someone already posted that. ATTENTION! very good. if you like 80s rap, you'll love this. way more simple than the last full length. In other news, GTA: San Andreas is going to be the best game to come out this year. No other game will match it. It's 4 times as big as Vice City. Great as in, great "hip hop" that is. Their hardcore stuff is kinda "eh". I really don't even like them, but you have to respect them for knowing about music... If you only see them for their video singles, you're getting 1/4 of the picture. Great band. The Beastie Boys started as a punk band, and some of their music has punk influence...ever heard "Time for Livin"? You stupid, ignorant fuck. I hope that truck gets lost and runs you over instead. also, i the reviewer is a moron, and catching all the missed spelling and grammarical errors would be an arduous task.. this guy uses cliche catch phrases almost better than bush..... nucular the fact that you guys are even considering the beastie boys as decent music is astonishing, especially on this site. i'm not sure what about the beastie boys is punk. not only do they not sound punk, but their lyrical content is just pop gibberish. and yes, i've heard the entire album. its vey very very bad. i hope those guys get hit by a truck If you don't like this album, I wouldn't be surprised. In a recent Billboard article, the Beastie Boys were under pressure to release this album by their label and management. It probably would've taken them another 7 years to release it if they wanted. This is by far the worst review I've read on this site. And that says a lot. Review sucks. "readers should all be aware that this album "is bundled with a copy protection autoinstaller which silently silently puts itself onto the listener's computer" according to slashdot. " Wow, finally someone else agrees with me about pitchfork. Seriously, do these guys even like music? It's one thing to simpy not like another band, but it seems like with these guys, if there's a band who's album they don't like (or isn't cool enough for these hipsters), that artist doesn't deserve to live. readers should all be aware that this album "is bundled with a copy protection autoinstaller which silently silently puts itself onto the listener's computer" according to slashdot. To the person below, what's ironic about it? This wasn't written by a staff reviewer. Dress fresh cause I shop at Models "Problem with this review was that the reviewer(s) was/were way too conscious about how cool they sound. The insecurities they have, man, like they still make me wanna get on the floor and patty duke it, do the smurf and the broom and all, but... " this album sucks.... 4 redeeming tracks.. thats about it. i'm a huge beastie boys fan but this cd is ridiculous. lame rhymes (i was embarrased to listen to it the first couple listens). i bought this for a friend and decided to give it a listen to see if it was worth picking up for myself. definitely not. granted i only have paul's boutique, but i really love that album, and this does not stand up. the rhymes seem really boring, plus they all rhyme seperately rather than together (which i think was part of the charm on paul's boutique), all the songs sound pretty similar, no real hooks, nothing to grab you. it doesn't suck or anything, but nothing particularly great either. Problem with this review was that the reviewer(s) was/were way too conscious about how cool they sound. The insecurities they have, man, like they still make me wanna get on the floor and patty duke it, do the smurf and the broom and all, but... "Twasn't made to be a good review, folks." Twasn't made to be a good review, folks. this is a shitty review. sorry. I can't say I like the review format... people are right that a Beastie Boys record - something which happens about as often as Venus passing between Earth and the sun - deserves some, you know, sentences. Oh, and this should've been the score for the last comment. In all sincerity, I must agree with Sickboi. A Beasite Boys album is much more deserving of a review, than a fucking AIM conversation. What's next, someone reviews an album based on their LiveJournal content? Fuck this. this album was boring I saw the Beastie Boys last night and they were absolutly amazing, they look old but thats alright but I guess it makes me a little cooler now that I saw them Good idea for a review, shame it didn't work. The album rules though Sometimes these concept reviews work well. This time it didn't. I'm off to Pitchfork, elitist or not. this has nothing to do with anything, but icarus smicarus by mclusky is possibly the best song i have ever heard Everyone make it wish, it's a falling star Whats with all the comic talk at the end? I think this album is going to have to grow on me. When Paul's was relaesed in '89, it took a while to grow, and this one is similar, but I don't think it will grow to be nearly as good. The Dead Boys sample is cool, and probably the best song on the album. Hard to be very disappointed by any BB album, so I will give it a chance. But I still have not forgiven them for supporting Mumia. i hate rap. fuck hip hop its all the same. This score is for Pitchfork: the wanky arena rock of music reviews. the album is good, but my eyes started to bleed when i got a quarter way through the review. please read a pretentious, elitist, over-written, image-conscious review at pitchforkmedia.com. Score is for Pitchfork. wtf? punk drummer guy..you already posted the same damn thing in the LTJ news post. what the FUCK is this "review"? go home. the best beasties album is by far and away "paul's boutique", and this isn't even close. ive never bought a BB cd, and was wondering what their best one was? this one is growing on me. check your head is my favorite, followed by paul's boutique. hello nasty being my least favorite. this one falls somewhere in between. what happened to the good ol' fashioned reviews that went straight to the point? this album is good. listen and enjoy geeks Where's the review ? pitchfork gave it a good review 7.8 and it was much better than this shitty review These guys make pretty good hip-hop because, like most early rappers, they actually know about music. i don't read modern comics. they suck. give me old claremont x-men or lee/ditko spider-man any day! the beats are annoying and why is time to build even on it? hello nasty was better. Although the review was fairly shitty and the gimmick didn't work at all, the album is fucking solid. Okay, you guys seem to like this. After listening to this, I wonder why people still buy "normal" hip-hop/rap records....if the Boys didn't try, it still blows away every other rap record released this year. annoying fucking interview! Check it out & Triple Trouble are the only songs i like. (Mind i said "that i like" i perfer the Beasties to be all loud and in your face. The rest of the album is too drowsy. They can be "good" songs, but don't care.) Hip-hop is too monotonous to be slow. It gets 3 times as boring. ...and Fuzzy you just outed youtself as a big nerd for the Transmetropolitan references. I'm really digging this record. "An Open Letter To NYC" uses a sample of "Sonic Reducer" by the Dead Boys, which is very cool. I didnt even read the review because It was too fucking long, but I agree with the score. Triple Trouble, and an Open Letter to NYC are gold Best beastie's album since "Licence"!! |
