The Blood Brothers have always been innovators. From their music to their merchandise, they've left dozens of soundalines and lookalines in their wake, never being content with where they are now. The Blood Brothers are one of those bands you can always count on to deliver something wholly original, whether or not you like it. they are amazing! I believe after this album BB started going downhill. Did You Know: Crimes is better than Burn, Piano Island, Burn? It's true. This cd pretty much blows. I remember my ex being so into it, me always thinking "is this the kind of hardcore chicks get into?" Of course, this shit isn't hardcore and it certainly isn't anything called "sasscore." That just sounds gay. Literally. Think about it. SASScore. Who the fuck has sass? Yes, let's invent more terms to impress our underground community. Pick up Red Medicine. It isn't sassy, but it does have attitude. this is by far the best CD i currenty (and probbly will ever) own. blood brothers is like my favorite band. i would die to meet them BSD is a fag and so is anyone who hates this album or this band. BSD is a fag and so is anyone whjo hates this album or this band. Fucking incredible album! No one likes the blood brothers at first. Well, some do, like me, but usually you have to force this shit down peoples throats for them to like it. But all you haters will see someday. One of the best bands going right now. Without a doubt. The Blood Brothers are awesome, i dont know why but i love them. First it was noice but then i got used to it and it was so addicting...sounds like everyone's story right? Hey has anyone else heard about the Blood Brothers and Yeah Yeah Yeah's EP thats comming out? i have to say i thought they were shit at first, just sounded random so it got lost in the piles of crap at home. Then i picked it up again and started to hear all the stuff goin on not just noise- now im hooked and have been for quite a while. All my mates were the same thought it was shit at first but got into it after a while. Incredible. Almost as impressive as burn piano. I had been hearing a lot about this band and bought "Burn Piano Island Burn" a while back and absolutely reveled in in its eccentric persona. So naturally I picked this up and my jaw dropped. Most of this album IS NOT what I was expecting at all. There are a few tunes that sound like they were left off of the last album but for the most part this is very different. Not to say that's a bad thing, this album does everything music should do: push the envelope in every direction and make the listener question what exactly they're hearing. I can understand people not liking this band. they are very polarizing. but i personally think they fucking rule, and im still debating if this album is better then bpib. both of them are better at different times really. You know who I really fucking hate? People who listen to barely 2 blood brothers songs and think they have the right to diss them wow...this album is amazing....jonny's high pitched voice is orgasmic and the shreeks and howls never sounded so kick ass. I dig everything about this record. oh...and to everyone that disses noise-core or "sass-core"....fuck you....if you would actually listen to them youd see that they arent just playing random crap....each insterment is so percise and tight....the drummer from the locust, for example....never sticks to 4/4 time, and still manages to keep the band together....i love it. so yeh....eat shit. Terrible. Sounds like a bunch of kids who just learned their instruments that wanted to solo. " Read the lyrics to a locust song, then read the lyrics to something by Sin Dios. An Albotross is fucking halirous and has a really raw sound and a really punk feel to it that i love. Melt Banana need i saw more they rule all of the above. The Blood Brothers to me just get lumped in with the rest and i feel compared to the rest they don't match up i mean just go look at the GSL lineup theyre full of this shit and I think better shit. Although this style gets old and annoying after a while i still love some of the bands. Tons of energy, entertaining spectacle, and the high vocals sounded way better live than I remember from MP3s. "Das Oath is no better than this." I really liked BPIB and everything else the blood brothers put out, but i'm not really feeling this. I listened to them for the frenzied energy in their songs and this new album just doesn't seem to have it with the new direction they're taking. Drivel. File this with the locust under "Shitty art-damaged post hardcore". I can't figure out what draws people to this crap - is it the emo lyrics guised under horrible noise soundscapes? Or is it the generic scribble art and wacky personas of the musicians themselves? pearl jam's music is not punk. eddie vedders attitude is. refusing to sell through ticketmaster, refusing to make music video's after jeremy, etc. he is an activist and donats a lot to charity. he has punk ethics in my book, but no, pearl jam are not a punk band. The only song that I felt lagged on BPIB was "I Know Where the Canaries and Crows Go". Deserves a 10. Best album of the year, hands down. I've had this album for like 4 months and yeah, it's amazing. I know this comment doesnt relate to this story, but i had to get it off my chest. Piano Island grew on me, mainly because of the hard sound mixed with some interesting rhythm. But without that hard edge (and I use that term loosely, its just that irritating voice). I like the drumming....Everything else=crap. I like how people always describe music as being 'ahead of its time' when they think they should like something, but aren't sure if they do. elliot, my condolences. not knowing you like shit is just.....sad. hey, i heard that sneering hipsters are really cool! i heard it's like totally against the grain to hate stuff that a lot of people love. and since the blood brothers are making some amazing music that's way ahead of its time, and people are appreciating it, then they're probably overrated! fuck that shit! I got this, but havent had a chance to listen yet. Burn piano island, burn was in my top 10 of 2003. sick, sick album, very innovative and intense. I hated this at first because of the higher voice and slower tempo but after a few listens I love it. Awesome record! They have such an original sound, and they write really, really good songs. I like this even better than BPIB, and I used to think it couldn't get any better. okay so i've let the album sink in some more and while i still like it, i have some complaints. then we're going to have a lot of balloons! horray! What a piece of shit band I really found that new "These arms are Snakes" disc to be one to fall into the latter category that I just spoke of. I can't bash on Jade Tree for it has given me some of all time favs (tpr, lifetime/kd, strike anywhere, jtb, explosion) but upon hearing that last There arms are snakes, I actually said to myself here's when the distorted bass part is gonna kick in and lo and behold. Then I threw the disc across the room never to be heard from again. It's not fair for me to make this band who is obviously talented my scapegoat for unorginality but SOMEONE PLEASE! oh god Please do something about this redundantcy of style/sound. I for one cannot I have tried. So I'm to blame as well. The instrumentation is amazing. Thats what sets this apart from the pack friend. C'mon do we really need another post-punk/hardcore/metalcore band? I love various bands from these genres as much as the next org reader, but originality after all these years and I mean years is starting to take a front seat to bands emulating Glassjaw and Refused. *cough* Hey douchebag, read my critique of this record. That supertramp influenced keyboard part in that Peacock song is absolutely fucking royal. My ambition is to see what would happen to an indie/rock club crowd at 1:00am when that song comes on over the system The reason why Burn, Piano Island, Burn was so good was because of the technical aspect and the amazingly well-written lyrics. Also, the band was at the epitome of energy. Listening to this recording, the half the band sounds bored out of their mind, not to mention Johnny's vocals just being out of hand. What the hell is this? Am I listening to Melt Banana? Atleast with MB I can appreciate the weirdness. This is just plain uncomfortable. Someone told me this was hardcore. Jesse, you have to stop giving everything half a star. i listened to the e-card recently and completely forgot about this album until now. that just shows that 2004 is seriously the best year of music in the 21st century. go see this band with against me! and don't forget to leave before the blood bros. play Great album, though none of the songs tops The Shame (last song on BPI,B) as far as intensity and dynamic is concerned. This album definitely (or perhaps obviously) tops Electric Children and Adultery, but I dunno if it's better than BPIP...i'll have to listen to it more and let it all sink in. I love tracks 1-9, but I have no memory of 10-12. I like the cover aswell, thats gotta count for something I'm still undecided about whether I like "Burn Piano Island, Burn", some year and a half on. Its good tracks were truly memorable, but its bad tracks were extremely hard to listen to. I might give this a chance, hell its gotta be better than the new Fear Before the March of Flames record! Yeah, this pretty much rules, but the songwriting is seemingly more "normal," which is one of the only reasons I think I slightly prefer Burn.... It's still out there, but it's easier to make sense of. |
