By now Slayer has been around for over 20 years, and unlike many other bands (for better or for worse), Slayer has changed very little in those 20 years. I think the band understands that when people buy a Slayer record, they want violent and fast thrash metal...and that's what they never fail to deliver. This new DVD, "Still Reigning," pretty much proves that these guys can (much like a band like Bad Religion) play their songs live so well it sounds as if you're listening to the original studio recordings.

Incredible DVD, I can't stop watching it. Slayer rule. i can't believe no one's mentioned that tom araya is from chilea (meaning: NOT WHITE) reading comprehension is fun! "guilty of being right is by a nazi band called code of violence" Will you all stop whining about that damn song. What its really called is "Guilty of being morons" and its a anthem to Mettallica fans. "I was refferring to both the below and the following: I was refferring to both the below and the following: this is what i said: To the whole Guilty Of Being White/Right thing - As mentioned a hundred times, Tom's hispanic - how in the hell are you gonna be nazi's and have a spic fronting the band? Uh? And for the MORON who posted it (the reference to the song) in the first place and then went on to mention how he'd never even heard the song... Christ, you are dumb. They changed the last word in the song, not the whole song, not the title. One fuckin word. Why, i don't know, and frankly don't care. To me, Slayer are like leather trousers: I wanna get into em, but I really can't "just saw Slayer on the Jagermeister tour last November, and the crowd was as crazy as it was the last time I saw them (at the Decade of Aggression taping in Lakeland, FL) 14 yrs ago. I can't say the same for Metallica." So a cover an okayish thrasher, a cover album by a bad 90's band, or a grind record? I believe it was the great Atom who once said: "I'd love for everyone in heavy metal to be homosexual if not only to make the nazi fucking pricks in slayer a little uncomfortable." i don't think he was just saying that. it seemed like he really appreciated it when bands don't change. i love slayer and all, but it gets fucking boring when they put the same record out over and over and over... "i read this funny interview with slayer wherein they were discussing other metal bands that came from around the same time (anthrax, metallica etc) and one of them (i think kerry?) was talking about how he liked how anthrax hadn't changed that much but disliked how metallica was all different now. i think it's funny that his conception of what makes a good band is them not changing. hillarious." "1) Slayer's cover of minor threat is "guilty of being white" not right. where ever you got that info is false. i read this funny interview with slayer wherein they were discussing other metal bands that came from around the same time (anthrax, metallica etc) and one of them (i think kerry?) was talking about how he liked how anthrax hadn't changed that much but disliked how metallica was all different now. i think it's funny that his conception of what makes a good band is them not changing. hillarious. 1) Slayer's cover of minor threat is "guilty of being white" not right. where ever you got that info is false. " If I went Metal I'll break out my old copy of "Peace Sells, but who's buying?" by Megadeth "Arise" by Sepultura or a Napalm Death record." " If I went Metal I'll break out my old copy of "Peace Sells, but who's buying?" by Megadeth "Arise" by Sepultura or a Napalm Death record." I hate everything Slayer ever recorded. I listened to slayer alot when I was younger, at the time it was simply a half-assed attempt at rebellion by a catholic-school kid, the only slayer album I still own is "Seasons in the Abyss", I rarely listen to it. If I went Metal I'll break out my old copy of "Peace Sells, but who's buying?" by Megadeth "Arise" by Sepultura or a Napalm Death record. It doesn’t matter. SLAYER and bad religion should never ever be compared on any level. Think of a better band that might compare to the might of slayer. And what’s with the hostility? No called you an idiot! Fuck yeah Cave In. The 2004 demo is pretty cool. arent leftover crack in love with these guys, and arent they totally anti-fascist. "if you idiots can read.....i wasn't comparing Bad Religion to Slayer.....I was merely pointing out the fact that their live shows sound virtually identical to their records (for better or for worse)." if you idiots can read.....i wasn't comparing Bad Religion to Slayer.....I was merely pointing out the fact that their live shows sound virtually identical to their records (for better or for worse). "i can say from seeing both slayer and bad religion live, there is nothing that can ever compare to a slayer show. shit i actually feared for my life and fucking loved it." "Converge's vocals are awesome. MASTODON FUCKING OWNS! This score is for Mastodon, Leviathan is great. dont you ever, ever, ever compare bad religion to Slayer. arent leftover crack in love with these guys, and arent they totally anti-fascist. if you're talking about the part i'm thinking of...it would be they're, mr DUMBASS That would be their, Mr. STAFF reviewer. I'll agree completely there....Slayer has some of the most retarded, meat-headed fans on the planet......but I still think there a decent band.....not the best or hardest, but they have some really good songs. "While we're on the note of Slayer, if anyone has ever seen Slayer's War At The Warfield DVD, there's a special feature on that DVD about their fans and boy was that embarrassing to watch because they must have found the dumbest fans to ever interview. It reminded me a lot of Juggalos and their dedication to the Insane Clown Posse." Slayer? Awesome vocals? Ever heard the song South of Heaven? "Before you see the light you must *cue pre-pubescent voice* diiiiiiieeeeee!!!!" While we're on the note of Slayer, if anyone has ever seen Slayer's War At The Warfield DVD, there's a special feature on that DVD about their fans and boy was that embarrassing to watch because they must have found the dumbest fans to ever interview. It reminded me a lot of Juggalos and their dedication to the Insane Clown Posse. Converges vocals are awesome?? Sorry man i love metal and hardcore but that statment has no truth to and Slayer are not Nazis for whats its worth they just like getting attention Slayer rules the stage !!!!! *reads Kicked-in-the-Face review* Converge's vocals are awesome. Converge sucks. Slayer at least has decent vocals for a thrash metal band. reign in blood is the best thrash album ever created BrandonSideleau is such a moron for reviewing a Slayer album. guilty of being right is by a nazi band called code of violence Well I didnt mean i wanted you dead dude, I ment the kid in that other review on that kicked in the face website. Everyones got a right to there opinion......except that idiot. you motherfuckers need to lighten the fuck up. Slayer isn't my favorite band ever, but they are pretty good competent musicians. I reviewed it because I got it in the mail, plain & simple, if you don't like Slayer then fine, but get a fucking life if you're gonna sit here and bitch about it. By the way, i ment that kicked in the face review not this one.... Wow.....I want to kill the kid that wrote that review. What a stupid motherfucker. And Slayer sucks. I didn't know people still cared about Slayer. Good band, though. What Ken just said is what all my Slayer-obsessed friends have always said to defend the band. Slayer is a polarizing band. If you hate the band you'll obviously be pissed off by the "Guilty Of Being Right" thing, while people into the band will always play the "Why would a hispanic dude think the white race is right?" card. I fall somewhere in the middle. To those wondering about slayer/nazi connections, Kerry King sported a swastika on his guitar for a while and it was featured in one music mag photo of him. The band is pretty obsessed with nazi war crimes (obviously, listen to Reign in Blood - especially "Angel of Death") and this was their explanation for the use of the symbol. "metal drumming is punk drumming with one more kick. " "Undisputed Attitude" is Slayer's "punk" CD...TSOL and Minor Threat are covered...as far I as know, they don't change "Guilty". However, they changed the Stooges' "I Wanna Be Your Dog" to "I'm Gonna Be Your God", for some stupid reason, like "Slayer never conforms to anyone, ever." "Woah dude, I didn't know you existed!" Good stuff; can't knock em. The Holocaust never happened! p.s the guy who brought up cave in's demos being possibly the last chapter in cave in history: cross your fingers that they release a new full length. or at least the cave-in/converge big band "virgin" cd. that kid who asked what slayer has to do with punk loses at life. I don't know anything about Slayer being "Nazi-related", I don't know much about them at all......but how is this related to punk? Well...let's see.....Slayer is a thrash metal band, and thrash is a form of punk rock. Anyway, if screamo, emo, whatever can get reviewed here, why not this? It has more to do with punk rock than Taking Back Sunday or any of that lame shit. I was just wondering what this has to do with punk? play their songs live so well it sounds as if you're listening to the original studio recordings Old Cave In=Everytime I Die if they hadn't listend to Guns n Roses between recording "Last Night In Town" & "Hot Damn" Hahaha Mr Anamorphic Vaqeuro Widescreen Here's a good review of this whatever, wake me when Razor releases a DVD. the added guitar solo sure kicked ass though. "Maybe I'm not in the know or being overly PC or whatever but what's up with Slayer changing Minor Threat's song "Guilty of Being White" to "Guilty of Being Right?" Not cool at all." "Maybe I'm not in the know or being overly PC or whatever but what's up with Slayer changing Minor Threat's song "Guilty of Being White" to "Guilty of Being Right?" Not cool at all." since you brought up the cover of minor threat i just wanted to know what the cd was called they do it on ? sorry i'm not too up on slayer or metal at all really. More like "Still Sucking." Maybe I'm not in the know or being overly PC or whatever but what's up with Slayer changing Minor Threat's song "Guilty of Being White" to "Guilty of Being Right?" Not cool at all. I don't think they could possibly be as tight as they are while moving around ala Ginn. |
