Goldfinger, goldfinger, goldfinger, what can I say? This band is amazing. Goldfinger have been my favorite band for awhile! Although I personally find this album alot weaker then other releases by Goldfinger, it is still amazing! This album is mostly ska, but there is also a little punk. I personally am a bigger fan of punk then ska so of course I prefer "Stomping Ground," and "Goldfinger" by Goldfinger, but this album is also great. This album shows just how talented John, Charlie, Darrin and Simon (this is Simon's last album for Goldfinger on bass) are. It shows that they can be a punk and a ska band at the same time. This album kicks off great with "Superman." This song is probably Goldfinger's most popular song, but I personally find it quite weak compared to alot of there other songs. Most of the songs on this release are ska, but there are a few punk tunes such as "My Head," "Question," "Disorder" and "S.M.P." My favorite song on "Hang - Ups" would have to be "My Head" because it is alot more punk then ska. Also it is very catchy. I also have to mention that another great song is "Disorder." Other favorites on this release would have to be "This Lonely Place," " I Need To Know" and of course "Chris Cayton." All in all, this is a great album to buy if you are a fan of Goldfinger or ska. Like I said, Goldfinger is my favorite band, and it's great that they do various types of music. But I highly recommend if you are just getting into Goldfinger to go buy Goldfingers Self Titled release. That is my favorite album ever, and "Hang Ups" is closely followed. This was a horrible review. That is all. Goldfinger is gold...eh...finger. Anyway they're the best band in the business and the best live band i've ever seen. If you have yet to see them on tour, i suggest you get off your ass, and buy a damn ticket. You will not be dissapointed. Check out their webpage. www.goldfingermusic.com. to the guy who says they change their sound every time the popular music changes...usually when one comments on CD's, he first listens to them. first, S/T has ska on it. Infact, ska was big when that album was big, yet not when the album is made. THEN ska goes out of style, and hang-ups is made. Then the band decides to just go for a punk album, so they release A PUNK ALBUM, not a rap-metal album. the only song on the album that's sort of rap-metal is skiers must perish which clocks in at a whopping minute and 3 seconds. wow, a minute long song really speaks for the entire album. dipshit. KICK FUCKING ASS, but Goldfinger 2ndn worst effort but still amazing, thats how good Goldfinger is! This album is damn good. Granted, it didnt appeal to me the first time i heard it, as much as it does now. Superman is a great song, even though its on Tony Hawk. Best song on the album is '20 Cent Goodbye' followed by 'Superman' and 'This Lonely Place.' i liked it ok Ska songs are good..... meh... they used to be good in the very begining dude. do not diss the hang-ups. this album is god, listening to it now. just one of the many bands I used to really like "Superman" until I heard it a million fucking times on 'Tony Hawk's Pro Skater'. Definately Goldfinger's best cd in my opinion. They play ska-punk better then any other style they have played. I wish they would go back to it. If you think Stomping Grounds is rap-metal, you need your ears checked. Besides, all their releases have ska and punk on them. So stuff it. when you really think about it, gf is the biggest sellout band ever. They changed their sound everytime the popular radio style did. The first cd and demos are punk, then ska gets big and they make hang ups, then its rap metal and they make stomping ground. anyways, darren kicks ass but goldfinger is pretty boring and lame. Good cd...but has to be Goldfinger's worst one good album...chris cayton is the best song but all the songs on this album are pretty decent. was this really a review? I don't like goldfinger a whole lot, but this was a pretty decent album. Best GF album!! The ska styling rules. It's OK, not that great, I don't enjoy Goldfinger that much. This album is really cool. It has some sweet tunes and that trademark Goldfinger sound. Good review, dude, but you don't need to tell us 500 times how "ska" the album is and that you prefer punk to ska. Once is plenty! Yeah it's a pretty good album. I like the vocals even though they arent that unique. One thing you have to be ready for in this album is that it's pretty damn slow. Some songs pick up in speed but for most you just have to lay back and appreciate Goldfinger's moderate style on this one. Pick it up none the less. I like this CD a lot, its probably GF's best. |
