The Mongoose has only been listening to Lifetime for about 6 months now. He wanted to see what all the hype was about, so he bought Hello Bastards and Jersey’s Best Dancers. The Mongoose was very impressed.

i don't know why, but i really liked this review. I have to holler at rkl, well put! i always like reviews better when someone is new to the band because, it generally means theyre relying solely on the musical content, instead of judging off past albums, scene-place, etc. No offence to The Mongoose, but The Someone would like to see this collection reviewed by someone who has been listening to Lifetime for more than 6 months and has more knowledge of the band. Aubin I'm looking at you on this one. As Long as Dr. Dan keeps bringin it in Paint it Black or Lifetime or Kid Dynamite you should show up. The guy is as old as me and hardcore moves him. When I say show up it means either go to shows or buy albums or whatever you think is hardcore. The cover of "A New England" is sooooooooooo money! "The funny/sad part of it is, Lifetime will end up getting dicked. The royalty rate is MUCH better on indies like jade Tree. Their records aren't gonna reap the kind of sales necessary to make it in the "big league" of the major labels. They might sell more records this time around, but the cash will once again end up in somebody else's pocket." Lifetime is kinda like Saves The Day, a likeable but not brilliant band whose sound was copped by umpteen lame bands that got rich by purveying mediocrity. So Lifetime will probably lower their common denominator a bit in hopes of cashing in. And it won't work. Fuck it my comments don't seem to be appearing but this was the last half i wrote Great...so my comments didn't work first time, lets try again. Wow Buddyhead are complete tools, (i used to think they were pretty cool, but now as with a lot of these comments they come off as jumping on the band hating wagon. How about directing your hate towards some cookie cutter shit that "awkward" teenagers " "lifetime before reunion = amazing, influential, lengendary www.myspace.com/bookburner "I hope I am not posting on this site when I'm 30. It's just a hope of mine." wait wait... after reading the "from buddyhead" post, now i know where half the people in this review get their material From Buddyhead: This lifetime backlash is the lamest shit ever. "I hope I am not posting on this site when I'm 30. It's just a hope of mine." "I actually own the two Jade Tree albums, bought them when the band was still intact." Lifetime is an example of a band that got better with time. I'm not too impressed by their early recordings, although it is good to hear them. Ain't it great seeing your "legendary" heroes, Lifetime, sucking up to Fall Out Boy? yeah, i think lifetime, and dr. dan's other bands are special simply because they make hardcore that is not narrowed down to a certain demographic. Lifetime is extremely poppy at times, the vocals can be slurred, the lyrics aren't followed 100% correctly by the liner notes, kid dynamite was extremely angry and quick, but was by no means a testosterone overdose. How did The Mongoose not hear this band until 6 months ago? The annoying thing about Lifetime fans is that they act like Lifetime and Kid Dynamite were the only ones playing hardcore in the 90's. Like everything else was Earth Crisis or Madball. Whatever, Charles Bronson blow these fucks away. lifetime is only legendary because of the crushing support of fanboys like you. "Why is this band so overrated? I actually own the two Jade Tree albums, bought them when the band was still intact. But the heaping post-breakup praise for this band is unnecessary and undeserved. Sure, they're OK. The funny thing is, their reunion will NOT make Lifetime into the next Fall Out Boy, as they're expecting. OK, so everybody in a band likes them. But they're not cute enough, so "the kids," who buy this shit, won't buy. "The funny thing is, their reunion will NOT make Lifetime into the next Fall Out Boy, as they're expecting." it's funny to listen to dillinger four and hear green day riffs from american idiot. why the fuck does this guy keep refferring to himself as "the mongoose" that is fucking unneccasary. I love Lifetime. Hello Bastards and Jersey's Best are two of my favorite CDs. But this release just didn't need to happen. I already own Seven Inches and I was not into Background AT ALL, and unfortunately for me, the duel CDs contain the same songs from those two Cds over and over again. Kinda a waste of money although the first songSomewhere In The Swamps Of Jersey is incredible. Why is this band so overrated? I actually own the two Jade Tree albums, bought them when the band was still intact. But the heaping post-breakup praise for this band is unnecessary and undeserved. Sure, they're OK. But they're not cute enough, so "the kids," who buy this shit, won't buy. i can get a copy of background at slackers for $5.99. it is there everytime i go in, but i've never decided to buy it. is it rare/worth buying just for a collector's appeal? i think background it's a great record. it's not hello bastards, and it's also way different, but it's not horrible as someone is saying, and it's "relevant" for its time. i just don't get why the second cd, why the un-remastered version. if i can listen to the better-sounding version why should i listen to it? if i'm a nerd i would buy the old lp (if i can find it), if i wanted the live tracks, they should have made the second cd a full live cd. wonderful review Even the band seemed to have mixed feelings about rereleasing Background - which truly is horrible. What I read suggested that they basically just shrugged their shoulders and said "fine, we'll do it, but suggest you don't buy it unless you're nuts." I still have no idea why the re-released "Background". It's just beautiful that The Mongoose wrote this review. I imagined the voice as being that thing from Ice Age. Isn't this the band that all you internet punks nut yourselves over? godfather, youre not supposed to tell us. that makes it even worse a/s/l? haha, that's me! yes yes, that's right, i am the genius behind the mongoose...but really, sorry about the review i think almostpunkenough was right "does anyone else hear a french accent in their head when they read this review?" The Boba Fett enjoyed The Mongooses' review. The Mongoose rules! let him review everything!!! I'm not going to buy what's basically a reissue of something the band members have told me sucked. People who thought the whole The Mongoose thing was stupid or whatever, take themselves waay too serious. Lighten up, get laid or something. Shit. People seem to not dig this album. I personally think its great. Give it some time. good review. same feelings on this album, and my favorite songs are as yours. This is worth the money for the liner notes alone. The Mongoose is CrazyToledo's hero. great review i couldnt get past the first line of this review Seriously my sense of humor must blow because I was busting up at the end. Bumboclot george is gettin' upset! "Ugh, please never refer to yourself in third person again, especially with your stupid-ass nickname." Score's for the review. does anyone else hear a french accent in their head when they read this review? This music is gay. Only gays make it and only gays like it. "I heard Lifetime might be recording another album is this true? I don't know how I feel about that." I find myself listening to Hello Bastards much more when I pull out Lifetime than Jersey's Best.. However I find it hard to decide on which Album is 'better'. I think JBD is more refined but I enjoy the overall impression Hello Bastards made. Hello Bastards stands out to me and Jersey's Best is, in my opinion, the culmination of their evolution in the sound Lifetime was creating as an up and coming 'hardcore' band. it is hard to say I think opening and closing tracks are important, JBD has a better opener but Hello Bastards has a stonger closer. Generally ... I need to type slower so my letters don't get jumbled. I think that the "the" should always be capitalized when referring to The Mongoose, not just when it's the beginning of a sentence. I think the mongoose needs to learn how to refer to himself some other way then by the third person. The Andrew thinks this was the shittiest review ever. where is the Underoath review? Maybe it's just that I haven't gotten any sleep, but I thought the Mongoose schtick was endearing. It was a well-written review anyway, I figure he gets away with a little idiosyncracy like that for it, what the hell. i for one, enjoyed the mongoose. cheers to the mongoose! The remastered version of background rules. This review would be good if it didn't use the word Mongoose so damn much. "Why hasn't anyone figured out that Lifetime was never really any good?" the mongoose sounds like he is a dick, fo'sure. dudes Why hasn't anyone figured out that Lifetime was never really any good? I bought this a few days before it's official release but have only listened to it twice. Some of the stuff on the first disc is just difficult to listen to. The songs are four minutes long and Ari just whines "ooooh ooooooo wooooooooah" over half of it. Most of it just honestly isn't good. So when is The Mongoose gonna suck my dick? best review ever. Shitty review I could only skim this review, due to the reviewer refering to himself in third person. Score is for the review, I haven't heard this. I thought The Mongoose was dead. Oh well. Ugh, please never refer to yourself in third person again, especially with your stupid-ass nickname. the whole "the mongoose" schtick really kills this review good review man. i love me some mongoose. The title track is pretty great and possibly the most accessible song they've written, but I can kind of see how it didn't fit into the context of Jersey. |
