this is the best cd - ive have ever heard so far- I bought the cd 13 moths ago anthony green booh whoo..... its kool! One of the best Albums in 2006 im not a fan of post-hardcore or whatever genre that saosin falls into, but i dont think that this band is that bad. they r pretty good Everyone should listen to saosin Good review. I agree that the songs did run together a lot of the time, and the album was slightly overproduced. I wish we could have heard what this album would have sounded like with Green, but then again i'm glad Circa is around. after listening to them live for the second time, I say do your own screaming Cove. Strange how the vocals sound nothing like they do live. The rest o the band is great. All they need is a better singer. Ohh wait, they had one... If cove was a fat bald guy saosin would sell less than half the records they do now. All the chubby thirteen year-olds trying to get even with mommy and daddy by painting their nails black. What happened to the good old days where you could go to a concert and enjoy yourself instead of worring about whos little girls vans you're accidentally stepping on. To say that Saosin is as good now with Cove as they were before anthony left to Circa Survive is to say that Velvet Revolver is as good as Guns'n'Roses, or Audioslave is as good as Rage. Get where I'm going with this??? Cove is a good singer, however lacks the raw intensity that Anthony brought and this is everso evident in the different versions of "I can tell". Anthony sounds raw and more hardcore, where as Cove just comes off as whiney. This album has some decent songs, and the writing is well done. Guitar riffs are acceptable and the drumming is very tight. This being said it's dificult for me to say this record is bad, the truth is it's not bad at all, it's just not very good. I know some of you will disagree, probably because you are about as attatched to this band as you are to your myspace. The thing is this album didn't do it for me, and neither did saosin live. I did see them a while ago, when their only known hit was Seven Years shortly after Anthony left, and Cove was terrible. Must have been a bad day because there is no doubt the boy has talent. Listen to Circa Survive and their newest album Juturna if you really want some musical integrety. Sorry girls, this album gets a 5. saw these guys the other night. put to waste comments of these guys being over-produced and not being able to replicate their sound live. they were amazing and sound very close live to what they do recorded. also, this album works amazingly for this band. they're going places and they know what you're doing. Some songs are pretty catchy like Sleepers and It's So Simple buuut all the songs sound the same. Even the guitar is pretty boring, the coolest thing they do is some simple tapping in the bridge in It's Far Better To Learn, other than that it's all real simple-like riffs. Uuuugh, has anyone else heard the acoustic version of voices? They forgot to protool that one. :( wow, what a terrible review. Thats what I was talking about. Well, it may be hard to believe, but not too many bands come through Toledo...but that doesn't stop the shitfest known as Aiden from coming to town... do your research abit more go see them live ... you'll be taking back your vocal comments and anything positive you had to say about them. fool I forgot to log in for mine.. so here it is. I just find them annoying. They found one structure that works, stuck with it, threw some high, monotonous vocals in with some nice guitar work and called it an album. It's a start though.. these guys are laughing all the way to the bank. 35k there first week! i can't believe this steaming pile of shit got reviewed and the new planes mistaken for stars didn't. "after awhile it starts to blur together and makes the album become slightly monotonous after awhile" Replace and with can. Bands nowaday and play most of the time, to at least some xtent, but feel that every thing has to be perfect, so they polish their work so that in there eyes it can sound "perfect." Or something like that... It's at the point where you don't even need to know how to play. Just get yourself a producer who knows how to twist the knobs better than the rest. Is that one of those Starship Trooper bugs? if anyone is somewhat familiar with pre-reber saosin and looking for a quick laugh or cringe, visit their myspace and indulge in the horrifying live vocals. this guy gets nowhere near the recorded pitch. what happened to the tremendous voice he showcased on the record? Anyone who uses Pro Tools is pathetic. I don't have a problem with digital recording (though I prefer good old tape) but shit like auto-tune is just ridiculous. It's at the point where you don't even need to know how to play. Just get yourself a producer who knows how to twist the knobs better than the rest. JAzzed that these guys recovered so well after green left. Nice guy apparently, just can't sing. just shut the fuck up, tools. Just listen to Circa Survive, boys. The band will never come close to Translating the Name, but this is pretty solid if not samey. The reworked "Sleepers" is impressive. horrible review ... this cd is awesome. concidering the fact that I reallyreally hate emo it's quite funny how these guys manage to please me that much. the screaming's gone, hurray! 4 rather weak songs, but the other are oh-so-solid. I know its a totally different genre, but these guys really put together a complete album...all categories aside. Its solid and very listenable. Safe. No Planes Mistaken for Stars review??? Bah! this is not worth the amount of time it took them to record it. p.s. you're getting better at writing reviews. meh, Anthony Greene was Saosin. they should have changed the damn name instead of stealing publicity. "You're Not Alone" could be HUGE, assuming Capitol doesn't blow it. review is crappy, cd is about a C I like it, but some of it sounds like a boy band. " Solidly structured . . . . . JUST LIKE THE CAPITOL RECORDS BUILDING ! ! ! HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa ! ! ! " Dude, there's like 2 good songs on this cd. I think that score is generous. sucks. what would've been a solid if somewhat generic debut album in 2002 or 2003 comes out in 2006 as a mediocre, overhyped piece of cold, corporate product that will surely be devoured by thousands of emaciated middle schoolers in girlpants and sideways haircuts still infatuated by a subgenre whose expiration date has already passed by 2 years. Haha, my mathematical equation relating Circa Survive, Saosin, and Anthony Green got trampled by the intertubes. Meh. this album is really good. buy it. whadda bout my review. :( |
