| New Mexican Disaster Squadlive in Toronto2006 live show Review by: JonDaley See others by this writer Only registered users can post comments Published on November 17th 2006
As luck would have it, similar to about 50% of the shows I go to, I was going to be attending this show alone. Thus, I got there a little early and decided to make the best of it. I went to the legendary Q Bar across from the Kathedral for a couple of pints with some of the colourful inhabitants of Queen Street. However, one of them kept wanting hugs so I decided I would make a hasty retreat.

that show fucking ruled. Bruce oh my Bruce is such as goos song live. I was even tempted to start throwing down some ridiculous floorpunches. For the record the opening band (assuming no ones already responded here - sorry if they have!) is called Crimson Mire and we appreciate the kind words, that's for sure! Hopefully sometime in the future you can see a whole set...again thanks for the kindness. >ryan out. this was a really good show, although I too was disappointed about the lack of no trigger. I missed Attack in Black a few weeks earlier because I got to the Propagandhi show an hour late and the lineup was still around the corner. They were very impressive though and I'd go so far as to echo your sentiments of them being a great new find. Fifth Hour Hero are always fun live, although I have a harder time getting into their recorded stuff. This was my third time seeing NMDS, but the first time that I really knew any of their songs. Don't Believe is one of my favourite albums of the year and they brought it hard at the Kathedral. They've really got the back-ups and whoa-oh's down to a science. They do it a lot better than most bands, and it adds so much to the songs, both live and on CD. “whoa-oh"s. saw modern machines, fifth hour hero, nmds and no trigger in buffalo. awesome show. going to shows by yourself is key AlexPKeaton is Canadian!? Oh, yeah NMDS is ok. More popped-up Black Flag, or less amazing Dag Nasty. I have nothing against them, I just don't really care for it. “whoa-oh"s. Great lineup. Must've been a really good show. it sucked no trigger didn't show. but nmds were realy good. too bad the crowd was so small. Everyone who sees NMDS should tell them to play Tepid Water........ I'm from Toronto too and im in the same boat. Can get some friends out for the big bands but otherwise I'm on my own.Punknews should have a section where you can find people going to shows in your town that night and meet up with them. punknewsonlinedating.com LOL Secondly, can someone write a review for a Propagandhi show. I wrote one and it was shit so it didn't get posted . . . I'm from Toronto too and im in the same boat. Can get some friends out for the big bands but otherwise I'm on my own. Showing some love for the hometown boys! Yeah this show was pretty good. I also ended up going alone, you just can't trust people these days, but still had a good time. They only thing I disagree with the review about is the first band. I thought they were absolute garbage. They could play, but I didn't want to here what they were playing. And with a chorus like, "They came for the rock, they stayed for the cocaine," I don't know how you couldn't hate them. All the other bands were great though. Can't wait to see Attack In Black again. GFK's music fucking fucking blows. New Mexican Disaster Squad is pretty cool though. I really wanted to go to this but no one wanted to go and I didn't want to go alone. I should become a new Toronto show buddy with you, haha. I really wanted to go to this but no one wanted to go and I didn't want to go alone. I should become a new Toronto show buddy with you, haha. It was one of those magical “ahhhhh this is punk” moments. Ah, 'Not Sure I Was Taking A Leak'. A classic, but not quite as good as 'Dinner Break Not A Band.' |
