Killswitch Engage emerged from the Massachusetts metalcore scene several years ago, releasing their exceptional self-titled album via Ferret Records. Afterwards, the band would go on to sign with Roadrunner Records and release the immensely popular, Alive or Just Breathing. However, after the release of their second LP, the band saw their vocalist leave the band. Filling in the void was Blood Has Been Shed vocalist Howard Jones, who delivered an almost identical shout, while improving the clean parts and allowing Killswitch to branch off into melodic areas that they couldn’t venture with their previous vocalist. Jones’ first album, The End of Heartache not only garnered around 400,000 sales, but was considered to be one of the best metalcore albums over the last few years and even received a Grammy nomination for the ballad title track.

Why do good bands have to go and become shit? Every killswitch album is so creative and different. best cd of this year Hahaha.. metalers coming on PUNKnews.org and insulting punk music and those who listen to it, cause Killswitch Engage pits are SO HARDCORE. Pits... hahha... lemme guess, you're some frat fuck with an IQ of 26 who thinks he's the shit? What does it feel like to be as dumb as a box of rocks? KSE is the best fuckin band ever fuck all the people who don't respect KSE. Punk is fuckin gay!! ur all a bunch of fags. Bands like KSE and All THAT REMAINS are awsome! That is real music. Every killswitch album is so creative and different. They're all incredible....KILLSWITCH IS ONE OF THE SICKEST BANDS EVER!!! What the hell is wrong with everyone on this site! for one thing kse is the mother f*%^in shit man. Maybe everyones just jealous that there better!!! ha ha! i have heard better though. Scene kids? You morons on here are all scene kids. Your a bunch of freakin' losers. Punk is lame. Get over it. Punk stopped being important in like 1983 loser. Arguing about whether metalcore or punk is the more formulaic genre? It's like debating whether you prefer cat shit or dog shit. Scene kids? You morons on here are all scene kids. Your a bunch of freakin' losers. Punk is lame. Get over it. Punk stopped being important in like 1983 loser. does crazytoledo have to smack a mascara wearing pansy bitch? LOL!!! You all are too scared to even show up to a KSE live show. You all would get destroyed in the pit. Hahaha, KSE has a CRAZY pit. HAHAHAHAHA, what are you, fucking 12? I second the Converge statement. "The cover art was done by Mike D the Bassist. I happen to like it. Your right Punk losers, 44 has a much better album cover and music, LOL!!! You all are too scared to even show up to a KSE live show. You all would get destroyed in the pit." and who gives a fuck about cover art, since when did that ever become the measure of how good a albulm is? aside from the fuckin stupid mosh breakdowns, it's an ok albulm, but it is a major let down The cover art was done by Mike D the Bassist. I happen to like it. Your right Punk losers, 44 has a much better album cover and music, LOL!!! You all are too scared to even show up to a KSE live show. You all would get destroyed in the pit. All I know is that album cover is absolutely ass-ugly. Band sucks. For good metalcore see 'Of Malice and the Magnum Heart." STUPID Yeah cause spelling is definetly the judging factor when it comes to the validity of opinions. By the way, you call me a moron, yet you are the one who can not spell! You are a real genius!! You can make a better point if you don't have to correct your English, now go listen to your American Rejects cd and cry yourself to sleep you pansy. amazingthemike is a freakin' moron for not disputing anything I wrote, all he says is that I am an idiot. Prove me wrong, who pioneered and champion's metalcore in your eyes moron!? pioneered* The guy below me is an idiot for thinking KSE pioneed metalcore. I don't know why punknews.org is reviewing a metal album in the first place. But news flash here: Jesse David Leach is the original singer, he now sings for Seemless, which has released two great albums. Killswitch Engage is the best Metal band in the world right now. As far as creating a new genre: "Metalcore" if you will, KSE owns the genre. All other bands are merely imposters. You can compare KSE to innovative bands like Iron Maiden, Metallica/Megadeth and even KoRn as bands that single handidly led an entire scene. KSE destroys 99% of the bands out there on stage. It isn't even a contest. Put anyone of your lame "Punk" bands on stage with KSE and they'll be going home crying to their mommies. One of the best bands on the planet. All you "punks" can go suck my nads. Kelibguscua giant-moth robot disproves of this record. Garbage. "You fuckin fags always say the same old shit," That;s me I think that people hatin' on metalcore for bein a tired genre is now cliche. Everybody does it. You fuckin fags always say the same old shit, find something new about metalcore to make fun of! to the comment below me...exactly. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the horrible album title yet. Fair do's. I just can't be bothered to listen to them anymore. I am really confused... alot of people seem to be dismissing Killswitch alot as of late just because the whole metalcore thing seems to be played out and this band was a major reason for the expansion of the genre. well apparently everyone forgot that this band is just straight up good and innovative. "As Daylight Dies" is clearly nothing like "The End of Heartache" because there definitely aren't any songs that could be categorized as possible hit songs (and TEOH was heavily populated with these). Apparently KsE also decided to get smart and realize that their last cd was much too formulatic and decided to break out a heavier and much more technically proficient album just to silence their critics... for this i commend them. "i don't get it. you liked the last album, but you wont get this one and don't want to hear any songs off of it?" This album isn't as bad as people are making it out to be. "I enjoyed The End of Heartache. A lot, actually. I won't be getting this, hopefully not hearing anything off it at all." haha it's funny because they actually both suck! "who delivered an almost identical shout, while improving the clean parts and allowing Killswitch to branch off into melodic areas that they couldn’t venture with their previous vocalist. " I dunno, to me, it seems a major way to shoot yourself in the foot to announce that you're basically only releasing an album because the record label's feet are getting itchy. Even though this genre is painfully oversaturated right now, there are still "good" bands and "bad" bands doing it. These guys are definitely one of the good ones. all the trashtalkers can eat the shit thats coming out of my ass..as i speak,,sitting here on the almighty throne of the bathroom, i dedicate every terd thats comes out of my asshole to all the shitalkers that are mostly just jealous!!BYE I don't like them. Killswitch. Engage. i agree that there are no real stand out tracks on the album but its still a really good overall album. i noticed adam seems to be singing and screaming a lot more on this album than on the last one as well "anyone know if the GZA/DJ muggs album is worth getting?" anyone know if the GZA/DJ muggs album is worth getting? Yeah, big fan of QWERTYUIOPASDFGHJKLZXCVBNM, although I think their newer stuff is pure cockcheese. crazytoledo has to be super stoked that these assclowns are going to be one of the about ten bands that play in toledo this year. i was expecting this to be complete shite, but i actually quite like the more melodic direction they've gone in, even if i did prefer jesse's vocals to howard's. the first paragraph is full off bullshit. Jesse could do perfectly good clean vocals, they could have done melody if they wanted but they didnt. Case and Point being Jesse's new band. i prefer QWERTYUIOPASDFGHJKLZXCVBNM, anyone else think that? Photos from the Killswitch show on Tuesday: anyone know if the GZA/DJ muggs album is worth getting? BHBS is better. I can't stand this band. BTBAM is way, way, way better. love this album, everyone says it sounds like heartache rejects, while i think they just took the best things off that album and improved on them crazytoledo has to be super stoked that these assclowns are going to be one of the about ten bands that play in toledo this year.
