I guess writing awkward, chunky sentences that would sound silly spoken and just sound blocky as lyrics counts as "a way with words" in some sense, although not a positive one.

Score is for New Wave.

I've said it before, and I'll say it once again... New Wave is an extremely awesome DANCEABLE record. Great shit!

However, it's unfortunate that many people will get caught up in the bullshit of anarcho-crap, laundromat, indie-punk what-have-you.
This is just music people... they're not revolutionaries. It's a band, and they write songs. OH MY GOD!

white people for peace is incredibly catchy, and i like the chorus, which isn't great, but still fun to sing along to. full sesh leaves alot to be desired, glad it's not going to be on the record. Against Me! will continue to be my favorite band until the unlikely scenario that they go on TRL and have a "Honda Civic Tour featuring Against Me!"

But anyways, topic at hand. I dunno... I agree with the hollow statement. It's hard listening to Against Me! because they seem like half of what they used to be, like there's this shell around them that's just keeping me from getting into what they're doing.

At least their live show is worth keeping up with them. Score's for the review.

Fairly good review of the 7". Half-baked lyrics a record doesn't make. This isn't Paramore or Panic! at the Disco. Against Me! actually had a cause to stand on...but protesting protests? With lyrics like this? Fuck that. Read my review of the show in NY for more details...

Full Sesh is an awesome song, as is the title track.

Listening to Up The Cuts and Ocean makes me stoked for this.. but it's a weird adjustment, mixing wise.

Am I the only one who thought AM! always sang about anarchism tongue in cheek? Also there is a difference if saying 'we only want to play basements' and 'we are content with playing basements.' As a band gets bigger it is not their choice of the general size of venues they play.

Justin is a track that only got better every time I heard it...after the first few lines, it's pretty good.

Score's for Against Me!. It's music, that's all brothers and sisters... great music. They're a band, they play music, and they're fucking great at it.

Score's also for their entire discography, from their itty bitty demo all the way to New Wave. I honestly can't pick my favorite release from Against Me!, and they are the ONLY band I can say that about.

I know, I know, I MUST have absolute horrendous taste in music, and I have no idea what I'm taking about, right? Whatever. If anyone is honestly pissed because they aren't playing basements singing about anarchy, then go listen to the other bands that are doing it.

My friend has the rape-whistle copy of New Wave, and it's a wonderful POPPY and very DANCEABLE record.... it's just really fucking fun. I love it, and I'll definitely be buying it on July 10th.

It's just music, people.

I agree with the comment below me, and I also agree with this review. This is a 7 inch that is worth $3, no doubt.

I'll never understand the people that say Axel Rose is so much better than anything else they've done. You people don't have ears. I'm excited about picking this album up the day it drops. White People for Peace is a great song.

Truth is that these songs are much better written than most of what they have written to date... Much more mature and much more rounded musically... Even the B-side was better than most of the songs on Clarity...

Their old songs captured the moment they were in when they were in them... We grow older and we ALL CHANGE... Why this concept escapes people is beyond me...

Or you could just write the same song 15098 times and bore you to death that way..

yeesh... I thought change was a good thing... and if you look closely at what you enjoyed when you were 15 to when you were 25 to when you were 5... you would find a shitload of variance...

And... it isn't a bad thing..

This release is alright. The first song is good and the second song is a little boring. Either way, I won't be buying this when it comes out. I think it's bullshit how there is no advances of this and if they want to play their game, I'll play mine. Major label debuts sell buckets of records when it leaks on the net first. Seriously, the internet is the promotion there is in this case.

good review, it pretty much captured how i felt about this album. the title track is great to play loud and the lyrics are well thought (and hey, i happen to like the chorus)

full sesh is... i dunno. i bet it sounds pretty good live. but its lacking something.

im soooooo tired of this band. Reinventing Axl Rose was a good record. i listened to it a shit ton. As The Eternal Cowboy was decent. i listened to it a few times. but stuff after that was just meh. and then i got sick of everyone and their mother talking about them. i wish they'd break up.

really not a fan of the mixing or the repetitions, but holy shit these are catchy tunes.

White People is very enjoyable. It sounds a bit slick, but I expected as much. I'd even go so far as to say it was better than anything on Clarity.
