Tbh i found this band on pure volume lik 2 years ago or sumit and thought thy were fukin shit hot, thn thy released the album and i equaly thought it was shit hot...thn this thing happened....kerrang got a hold of thm....now there jst another band tbh.....it all lies in there next album weather thy gain my support agen, bt from the newer stuff thyv recorded am not holding my breath.. This album is fucking killer. this may be my favorite review i've seen on this site haha. yeah, i liked the record a whole lot, but i agree that the hype for this band has been RIDICULOUS and it's only gonna let people down when they hear it. It's just another hardcore band everybody. "Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at 7:14 PM (EDT) I was just skimming this review and I thought that one part said Ric Flair and I got a little excited. i would say GALLOWS is a lot more like 90's post-hardcore (like Drive Like Jehu, The Corta Vita, Hot Cross) than they are 80's hardcore. Other than a few riffs here and there, i don't see much of anything "hardcore" there. Live this band is decent, they do their thing, they're nice dudes too. But their music is repulsive, just terrible. Ummmm.....he DID like the band. A 7 is a good score. Have a sense of humor, Mikey! I like Gallows, and this review made me laugh quite a bit. Well done Brian! Yeah, they really are just a shittier version of The Bronx. Score is for the review. It was great but I would like to see what could be done with this review style and a band like From First To Last. Their pictures alone are funny. Dear Emo Kids, Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at 12:37 AM (EDT) fuck this band. i know a bunch of brit hardcore bands that are better. hahaha, great fuckin job. Score is for Brian's review. I laughed my ass off. Dear Emo Kids, great review. after spending time with this album its not the total trash i thought it was at first but its certainly not groundbreaking or amazing in any way Way to go Warped Tour. Not only is your logo sold out and contrived, but you mentioned something about the band being a four piece when the press picture you put RIGHT NEXT TO THAT SENTENCE clearly has five people. Lame review. Great band. Ha ha... Attack Vipers! Yeah! Great band... I would like to see them go places. As for this review...it seemed unnecessarily bitchy. I agree with the score though, from what I've heard i wrote these guys off at first for being a "hardcore" band on epitaph records... but by golly they could fit right in when epitaph was good! is the reviewer American or British? the band are full of enthusiasm and have a great future. who cares if they sound like alot of American bands. they are gallows and they do thier thing, extremelly well. once you see them live you'll know. saw them in Bristol on my 23rd and they sung me happy birthday So we're clear, the best band playing '80s hardcore this decade is Western Addiction. fuck this review. fuck this reviewer. fuck this band. fuck the pictures. fuck everyone who lets this shit post. fucking idiots. Decent album. Way overrated, though. The best part about it is his British accent, but the music is a bit underwhelming. So we're clear, the best band playing '80s hardcore this decade is Western Addiction. Everyone's been going on bout this album over here for ages. Great band. I saw them at the Calgary Warped Tour and they were fucking awesome. I enjoy them alot more live than I do the album, but I still think you should pick this up. It reminds me alot of good 80's hardcore, thats a good thing... yes, this band is pretty overhyped, but that doesn't mean they don't play good in your face hardcore punk rock and roll, because they do. It's been done before, but what hasn't these days and they do what they do rather well. I like pretty much all of the album, but I have the UK release, is the Epitaph version any different? Best review ever. Alright record. Checked these gusy out, meh. You guys should listen to Double Negative if you want some real intense hardcore punk. "This album is nothing special........it isn't very creative nor doesn't really push the bar in terms of intensity. Seems like WAYYY too much hype for this release. If you want intensity go listen to the new Pissed Jeans record......the Gallows don't hold shit." Don't you dare compare this tripe to Paint It Black. I don't like this sort of stuff at all, it's boring retreads, but aren't you the same kids that get all silly over just as dull, trite, seen-it-a-million-times-before stuff as Kid Dynamite, Converge or Paint It Black? This album is nothing special........it isn't very creative nor doesn't really push the bar in terms of intensity. Seems like WAYYY too much hype for this release. If you want intensity go listen to the new Pissed Jeans record......the Gallows don't hold shit. oh god, I love this review, excellent job. you know something's wrong in the world when Gallows are considered the cream of Epitaph. I make attempts at writing around 20 "constructive" reviews a month. Forgive me for taking a "break." I'm not knocking the steal i just mean there is far, far better UK hardcore than some Paint It Black Rip off and this is coming from somebody who enjoys The Steal. Haha... score is for the review, because it is just awesome. The warped ads refer to the band as "four madmen" Now, my math is pretty poor to say the least, but I count 5. Maybe I need more numeracy classes. I uh, kinda like these guys, and I haven't noticed any hype except the MySpace thing. This album is good, but certainly nowhere near as good as I had hoped it would be. Orchestra of Wolves, In The Belly Of A Shark and a couple more are really good stand outs. NME jumped on them because if they got huge (they aren't going to any time yet) they could say they got it right. november coming fire are a great band, dont nock. right on with the Bronx comparison! This band is not terrible, but just kinda too polished for me. Were it a little grittier, it'd probably appeal to me more...i hear they put on a good live show. Abandon Ship and Attack! Vipers! are stellar but, seriously? What exactly is so awful about The Steal? Oh wow, using The Steal and November coming Fire as examples of good UK hardcore bands, are you kidding me??? try Boxed In and Abandon Ship or maybe Attack Vipers. i was more entertained reading this review than i was listening to the album Brilliant review. Can't comment on the album but what I have heard sounds good. My apologies. Glad I wasn't the only one who heard Every Time I Die when I listened to this band, my score still stands. I heard one song, sounded like Every Time I Die, then I heard their latest single, sounded like Silverstein before his horrid vocals kicked in. Why is their soooooo much hype surrounding this band? I've heard this before! Nice concept for a review, but the "reality" part is "watered down every time i die." hahahaha, brilliant! quite creative, score's for the review, I heard one song from these guys and it just sounded really noisy. Haha great review. Not a bad band but nothing mind blowing. I'm not so cool that I didn't enjoy reading all that. But, I was hoping for a real review at the end of all of it as I haven't listened to them yet, and all i hear is bronx bronx bronx. i wanted something a little more constructive too, i guess i should just check it out myself. And people say I have too much time on my hands? Calling this band a Bronx knockoff is the easy way out because you know nothing about rock influenced punk. Gallows definitely "do that style" but they draw their sound from bands like Murder City Devils and Drive Like Jehu. Sooooo.... No review, then, huh? Just a score and a lame attempt to be witty? Are those pictures and comparisons supposed to be a proper analysis of the album? Score is for Brian and the review. Please Mr. Gravedigger sound very little like The Bronx. More screamy, less melodic, way more keyboard-centric as well. Their debut record was pretty solid but I seriously doubt The Bronx are like pantomime villains running around going "NO ONE WILL EVER KNOW OUR SECRET". You could tell either band apart with ease. Coldwaffles: I Love the spill canvas review with the hulk in the grass, but that review was just a fun review, this one is just a bullseye. Great review, as for the band... meh My jaw is going to be on the floor for the next few hours, greatest review i've ever seen in my entire life. Great and spot-on review. If this band weren't so hyped ya'll wouldn't be trashing them. The Gallows - hyped and overrated everywhere except here That was the most honest review i think i've ever read on here. This band is RUBBISH, and really isnt very big in england, they seem to be suggesting that they are to the US though. Shit review, I shall score that "your friend's band was called please mr. gravedigger? hahha...that sucks." this band is the bronx if they lost all ability your friend's band was called please mr. gravedigger? hahha...that sucks. well the first thing i thought about the first time i heard the bronx was that they sounded almost like an exact rip-off of my friends band Please Mr. Gravedigger. which got at least a decent amount of exposure before breaking up and were also around a few years before The Bronx. being that Please Mr. Gravedigger was from San Diego and The Bronx aren't too far away being from L.A. it's not really that far fetched. and Please Mr. Gravedigger was really just an updated/more hardcore influenced version of murder city devils. "you realize The Bronx ripped off many a band, right?" "fucking awesome review. right on, too. good stuff, but a definite Bronx rip." This review comes off as trying too hard to be that grass growing review from ages ago or madball review. Good effort though. Lame review. Great band. fucking awesome review. right on, too. good stuff, but a definite Bronx rip. does a member really have an eye patch or is he just fucking around? HA! Funny funny funny. score's for the review. great work, brian. Good Review. The album score should be a 1 though. But what do YOU think about the album? Ha Ha! Nicely done Brian. You deserve a 10, the band however. What the fuck is this |
