Ah, Warped Tour, a part of my youth I can’t shed. Luckily, now that I’m older less and less bands are appealing to me, so what once was a stage race to see a dozen bands I loved is now, well, not. The only bands I was hell-bent on seeing were Bad Religion and Big D and the Kids Table, besides those who I’d float by at my leisure.
Since I already had my fill of walking around aimlessly, I decided to keep watching bands, the next one being Killswitch Engage. Since I’m sure no one wants me to prattle on about these guys, just re-read the second paragraph and replace As I Lay Dying with Killswitch. And you know, substitute those songs with "My Curse," "Rose of Sharyn," "A Bid Farewell," etc. Uh oh, here comes the pop-punk train. This stop, New Found Glory. Boy, these guys still jump around like it’s 2001! Even though I haven’t really heard their last few albums, their set was extremely fun, compounded with limitless energy. Plus, they played all those stone-cold crust punk classics like "Hit or Miss," "Better Off Dead" and "My Friends Over You." They also played a cover of Sixpence None the Richer’s "Kiss Me" (off their upcoming covers sequel), which was amusing as hell since I haven’t heard that song since 1999. But do we really need any more punk rock covers after the uh...existence of Me First and the Gimme Gimmes? Finally, Bad Religion time. Of course, I’m immediately disappointed as they walked on stage because Brett wasn’t there (did he play any of the dates?). But when they launched into "American Jesus," you forget about all that stuff and realize all these songs can be played by just one guitarist anyway. During the second track, "Social Suicide," a guy in a wheelchair crowd-surfed, much to the amusement of the crowd and the whole band. Jay Bentley even stopped the segue into the next song to declare “Holy shit! That was the raddest thing ever! That just made my day.” Greg noted “We’ve just been upstaged, good night!” Speaking of Greg, the only time he was fairly long-winded was when introducing the new tune "New Dark Ages." Other than that, they consistently played well (besides a sloppy ending to "Generator") and showed they could make the crowd move as well as they did when they were spring chickens. Set list:

At first I thought you were trying to make a not so clever remark about my screen name. But by the end it seemed more like you're a twelve year old who got his shoes stolen while crowd surfing at Warped and your mommy scolded you for it when she picked you up after the show. iknownothing poster knows nothing about anything. oh yeah, he needs his ass kicked. Eh. Warped Tour's gone downhill fast in terms of live talent, no question, but you can get some amazing deals there. you forget about all that stuff and realize all these songs can be played by just one guitarist anyway. Warped tour is pretty shit these days. Last time i went was 2002 and even then the lineup was going pretty steadily downhill. Score's for Rush. an 8 year old faggot wrote this review. Cheers queers writing reviews on warped tour is pretty fucking pointless. seriously. One day i will fly to the states and go to a warped tour. One day....although at this rate by then it will probably be all crappy bands anyway. II'm not going to Warped Tour today but if I did I would have watched: Iknownothing is officially my favorite poster. I went to The Bouncing Souls/ Lifetime show the other day and there were about 200 more stage divers/crowd surfers than there should have been. The thing that pisses me off the most is the people who actually push the person back towards the front of the stage. I try to lower a person off the top off the crowd every chance I get. "People always say "don't go up front if you don't want to deal with crowd surfers." Well, don't crowd surf if you don't want to get punched and lose your shoes." Score is for Warped the past 7 years. Score is for Off With Their Heads If Brett plays any dates at all, it will be the ones closest to L.A., so he can be close to his office signing the latest myspace band with the most friends. by the way, don't know if anybody cares, but i just got back from seeing superbad and let me tell ya, that has got to be one of the funniest teen movies i have seen in a long time! well, i could be wrong. i mean, it was in the triple digits and sweat was actually burning my eyes during their set, but i still think its him. Makes me glad i didn't go to warped. Sounds terrible. I hate "Mr. Brett" more than pete wentz. Only good thing bout the whole thing would have been "Anesthesia" and "Do What You Want" by BR who don't need that piece of shit brett gurewitz who was probably looking for the newest flavor of the week metalcore band to sign and try to make money money money. fuck him. Unless Brett is wearing a suit of the skin of another Bad Religion member he is not at the Dallas date. big d has gone way downhill, they used to go nuts, but now they all just stand there and dave points alot bret sure did play at the dallas stop. i don't hate brett's playing, just the whole money hungry, flavor of the week, shitty epitaph signings. "At any rate, I decided to pass on that five-minute street punk clusterfuck and see Alkaline Trio instead. They were playing "Private Eye" when I got there and they looked minimally into it. Even though Skiba looked ravishing in bright blue sunglasses, they seemed like they were simply going through the motions. They even substituted perennial show closer "Radio" for "We’ve Had Enough." Meh, I guess they’re not used to being awake at 2:45." "Makes me glad i didn't go to warped. Sounds terrible. I hate "Mr. Brett" more than pete wentz. Mr.Brett wasn't at the Dallas show, was he? oh, y the way, bret played with bad religion at the dallas show. i went to warped tour this year in dallas and it was great, but not as good as last year in quality line-up wise. The ONLY similarity between Coheed and Rush is the falsetto vocals. Coheed does NOT play "prog" just because they have expensive equipment and songs longer than 2 minutes. They use standard time signatures 98% of the time and the guitar and bass work isn't anywhere near as good as any "prog" band. mc chris? seriously? oh my god...score is for that turd Torgo, I don't think Brett plays with them live at all except on rare occasions or shows close to LA. I've seen them a couple of times since he's rejoined and it's always just been Brian and Hetson on guitar. d'oh score is for the sun cancer booth. i always forget sunscreen. "Posted by Torgo on 2007-08-17 02:55:43 Score is for seeing MC Chris over Tiger Army. score is for the warped line up last year. Makes me glad i didn't go to warped. Sounds terrible. This is not the first wheel chair crowdsurfer I have heard about. Not one of my better reviews. Score is for the supposed wheelchair crowd-surfer. |
