You hear about a band and how great they are. We've all been there. You add them to the list of CDs to purchase and think nothing of it. A day comes when you get around to buying the CD, put it in your car, and as you're driving, you get goosebumps as you've stumbled upon something special. Enter Baroness.

wow "rays on pinion" slays me. maybe i'm just crazy, but the second song on their myspace has a Stone Temple Pilots quality to it, at least the begining. "wow, i will never listen to this band. if they do, in fact, sound like that, then i can imagine it is awful" pretty cool tunes. reminds me like if, you took a band like jawbox and mixed it with mastodon. "Take Mastodon, Led Zeppelin, Motörhead, and mix with a little southern rock and you have Baroness. Get this one folks. You won't be disappointed" its funny. i saw these guys on myspace at random and added them because their picture was of the singer and he had this ferocious, awesome beard. and that was basically the sole reason. This is arguably the absolute best album to have come out last year. Check out www.myspace.com/ahauntedrift It's ex Exam and Vog. Add us and wait for some music. oh i didn't mean that you meant it got old. i was just saying it is getting kind of old now in years... as far as music goes these days anyways. but i think its their best stuff. score is for Whitest of Elephants "and to the dude that mentioned Exam... i fucking listen to that last Exam record all the time stillllllllll. it's definitely not gotten old at all." I was a bit surprised that didn't make anyone's best-of-07 lists Heard a lot about this band and never bothered to check them out. Heard it at a friend's party and thought it was awesome. Bought the album and thought it was pretty good, but not completely worth the hype. This was one of my favorites of 2007. Beautiful music. Ever since they released the Second EP I fell in love with these guys (and I bought it without ever hearing them). But once they posted 2-3 tracks from this album on myspace I knew something happened. Oh right, they lost one of the founding guitarists. My bro told me the album as a whole is pretty good, but the songs I heard were waaaaay too Neurosis and newer Examination of the... for me. I wished they still screamed all the time because that Second EP is my fav EP of all time. Maybe I should buy this and give it a try, but from the songs I heard I would rate this 2/5. I was a bit surprised that didn't make anyone's best-of-07 lists Yes suh good stuff. |
