Check out this unreleased Dwarves track from 1989!

Check out this unreleased Dwarves track from 1989!

Today, we are PSYCHED to debut an unreleased Dwarves track!!!

Back in 1989, The Dwarves got commissioned to do a 2 song single via the Sub Pop singles club. So, they went up Reciprocal Recording in Seattle to record with Jack Endino… except, the Dwarves being the Dwarves, they had so much berserk, coke fueled energy that instead of JUST recording two tracks, they whipped out an entire album's worth of material in something like two days! Influenced by Iggy Pop's style of recording, the band did a live in studio session to capture live energy, but also to get some semblance of studio production.

But, aside from the tunes released on the sub pop single, the rest of the tracks went into the archive and the Dwarves record a separate album, the iconic Blood, Guts, and Pussy, something like a year later.

Well, FINALLY, these archived tracks are finally getting released TOMORROW, on Record Store Day, as Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows. The long lost release bridges the gap between the band's early garage rock days and the hardcore explosion of BGP. Ya gotta get out to RSD to get this bad boy, but you can hear "Gash Wagon" below!

Oh, also, did you know that Dwearves are co-headlining Punknews Summer Soiree 8 with Hip Hop legend Schoolly-D on July 31 in Philly? You can get tickets to that right here! You can calos see their other live dates below!

Rebelmatic

Talking 'Black Hole Eats the Tornado' with Creature of Rebelmatic

Rebelmatic are a creative force to be reckoned with and this is extremely apparent on their new album Black Hole Eats The Tornado. The band continues to expand their sound as they seamlessly blend elements from hardcore punk, funk, soul, hip-hop, post-hardcore, jazz, and alt-rock together to create a sound that is groovy, propulsive, and distinctively their own. The band’s lyrical prowess is also on full display as they explore a wide range of topics including mental health, the significance of resistance and resilience, the Tulsa massacre, the vital need for knowledge, and the healing power of good art.

Black Hole Eats The Tornado will be out everywhere on April 11 via Say-10 Records. You can pre-order a physical copy here or find Rebelmatic on Spotify here. Rebelmatic will be touring the US starting later this month.

Punknews editor Em Moore caught up with lead vocalist Creature to talk about the new album, visual art, working literary references into the lyrics, the importance of making the music you want to make, and so much more. Read the interview below!

Mike Huguenor (Hard Girls, Jeff Rosenstock, Classics of Love) releases new single

Mike Huguenor of Classics of Love, Hard Girls, Shinobu, and the Jeff Rosenstock band, has released a new digital single. "What do I do now" is a stand-alone digital single. Huguenor said in a statement, "Every so often we’re hit with a moment of great uncertainty, a time when we have to stop and ask ourselves, 'Well, what the hell do I do now??' These moments are like the blank space on a page when one chapter has ended and the next has not yet begun, a passage that feels both infinite and always already almost over. The only thing we can be sure of is that it will lead somewhere new. That's the space of “What Do I Do Now?” I hope you enjoy."

You can hear the tune below.
