Billy Idol to release first new record in 10 years
Billy Idol will release his first album of new songs in over 10 years, titled Devil's Playground, via Sanctuary Records on March 22, 2005. The 13 track record was produced by Keith Forsey and will be preceded by the single and video for "Scream" on January 24th. Among the tracks is a throwback to Idol's early days as member of the Bromley Contingent in England. "World Coming Down" addresses his history in the crowd that followed the Sex Pistols (Siouxie Sioux, Steve Severin, Sue Catwoman, The Clash's Mick Jones and others), as well as his early work with Generation X.
Idol and his band, which includes longtime guitarist Steve Stevens, as well as new drummer Brian Tichy, bassist Stephen McGrath, and keyboardist Derek Sherinian, will be on tour worldwide in March 2005. In the press release for the record Idol ever so modestly states "Enough! 2005 is the time for an original punk rocker to show his stuff."
