Weasel, Giorgini form Sweet Black and Blue
Last night at Chicago's Bottom Lounge, Sweet Black and Blue made their live debut. Bassist Mass Giorgini confirmed that the line up includes Ben Weasel (Screeching Weasel, Riverdales) on vocals, Jenny Choi of Sanowon on keyboards and vocals and Pat McLimans, formerly of Endpoint and Metroschifter rounds out the band on lead guitar.
As of yet, little else has been announced regarding future plans for the band. However, the band has at least one other date scheduled with the Pink Lincolns on April 23rd.
Mass sent us a description of the band:
The style of the band is not as hard-edged as some of the Screeching
Weasel catalog, although the songwriting bears a resemblance to our old
band -- plus Ben sings half the songs. But the fact is there are a higher
percentage of midtempo songs in this band than there were in Screeching
Weasel, and with Jenny singing half the songs there is certainly a
different texture to the sound. Of course, the addition of the keyboards
also adds a live element that Screeching Weasel never had (although we
occasionally used them on albums).
