Warcon Entertainment officially formed
Though the site for Warcon has been active for some time - most publically as the home of Bleed The Dream - the company officially announced it's existence and goals today. The press release explains that Warcon will be a "new multi-faceted entertainment company that is designed to appeal to young music and action/sports consumers between the ages of 12 and 24."
Specifically, the company is conceived as an "all-encompassing brand name with record label, touring, publishing, design, media management and clothing visions, WARCON's mission is to make itself synonymous with the punk/metal/post-hardcore lifestyle. "
The company was formed by Kevin Lyman, co-founder of the Vans Warped Tour, and Bob Chiappardi, founder and CEO of Concrete Marketing and has signed both the aforementioned Bleed the Dream and Opiate for the Masses. Both bands performed in the first iteration of the Taste of Chaos tour and will also join the Warped Tour this summer.
The release concludes that:
Every CD released by Warcon (through Fontana, the new indie distribution company of Universal Music Group) will include a free DVD magazine with music videos, movie trailers, songs and limited, demographic-specific advertising. WARCON is determined to maintain its credibility with its core audience by declining advertising from companies whose products and services do not fit the lifestyle."
