Big Changes at Epitaph
This was my April fools day joke. It was inspired by a similar prank at Punkrocks.Net. Most of you got it, some of you didn't... hang your heads in shame. After years of being home to some of the most influential punk bands of recent memory, once indy giant Epitaph records is becoming a subsidiary of Sony. Epitaph head/former Bad Religion member Brett Guerwitz commented "It's a new direction for Epitaph. It may anger some people who can't let go of the past, but we will reach many new listeners. Bands like Creed and Limp Bizkit have started a new revolution in my eyes. As a progressive label we will have similar requirements for our bands' sounds." Several projects are in the works, including a "Defender of the Streets" comp (with proceeds going to the Fraternal Order of Police), as well as a new Christian division called Christ-Cat. Former Rancid frontman Tim Armstrong will head the new, right-wing section. The deal was finalized today, April 1st.Source: The Flat Earth Society
