Pixies planning new record

NME is reporting that the Pixies are planning to record their first new studio full length in 14 years. Frank Black spoke to UK paper The Sun about the possibility of a follow up to 1991's Trompe Le Monde. He commented:

It's all hugs and kisses, I'm pleased to report.
We have been discussing recording a new album lately. As happy as we are with the success of the reunion tour, we really want to make a record for the right reasons, whether it is successful commercially or not.
...We would be satisfied if it played like our other records, never chart-topping but always in print.

Since the Pixies reunited last year they recorded two tracks. This includes digital-only single "Bam Thwok" and Warren Zevon tribute cover "Ain't That Pretty At All." In the meantime Frank Black will release a new solo record this coming Tuesday. Honeycomb hits stores on the 19th via Back Porch Records.
