De La Hoya New CD Finally Available!
DE LA HOYA FINALLY DELIVERS...
"Okay, so here are the facts: De La Hoya recorded a tasty record with Don Fury in April and May of 2000 in NYC. DLH anticipated the release of this album for their Summer 2000 US Tour, and the album would be called, "Just What You Thought." This album was not released in time for the tour, DLH toured supporting their now ancient EP "Has No Credibility", and then the band went on a five month hiatus to deal with a major line-up change. The record continued to languish in the hands of people who were very unhelpful. De La Hoya returned to the stage (or the basement, depending where we're playing) in January with their new drummer Gunnar Olsen and their close friend Alison Fair filling in on bass. All the while De La Hoya promised everyone they saw that the album was coming out soon, because we sincerely believed it was. In mid-February, DLH started selling advanced copies of the music at shows, promising to send the real thing as soon as it came out (for those who did this, your copy is on the way!).
Now, nearly 9 months after we first thought it would come out, we have the album in our hands! We re-named it, "DANCE! Techno Mega-Mix Vol. 42", and it has most of the same artwork and all the same tracks that were originally scheduled for release.
The only explanation we can give for the delay of our record is that some of the supposed professionals we encountered (during the time between when the masters left the recording studio and when the record landed in our hands) totally lacked reliability and accountability. No one ever said DIY stands for a string of broken promises."
Goddamn, its about time. What the hell is happening over at Red Leader Records anyhow? They had this great crop of talent a year or two ago, but all those bands are leaving or have already left unhappy. Lets just be glad this album is finally coming out. De La Hoya are one of the best bands in NY and its about time that everyone finds out.
