Green Day, White Stripes, System of a Down take home Grammy Awards
Green Day continued their winning streak when they picked up Record of the Year for "Boulevard of Broken Dreams." The pop-punk band beat out Mariah Carey, Gwen Stefani, Gorillaz and Kayne West to take the top award.
Other winners included the White Stripes who won Best Alternative Music Album for Get Behind Me Satan and System of a Down who won Best Hard Rock Performance for their single "B.Y.O.B."
Though nominated for Best New Artist, Fall Out Boy did not win tonight, nor did The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Ministry, Queens of the Stone Age, Weezer, Norma Jean or the Foo Fighters who were nominated in categories from Best Rock Performance to Best Packaging.
The annual awards ceremony honors albums or recordings released during the Eligibility Year which is defined as October 1, 2004 through September 30, 2005.
