Fall Out Boy set to record in June; guests to (hopefully) include MCR/TBS

MTV is reporting that multi-platinum pop-punk act Fall Out Boy are set to enter the studio in June to begin work on their second release for Island Records. The album will follow the band's breakthrough full length, Under the Cork Tree which has sold around two million copies.

Band spokesperson and bassist Pete Wentz explained the plans:

We're going to finish this [Black Clouds and Underdogs Tour], head to the U.K, and then start recording the new record on June 7. We're doing it in L.A. again. ... Neal Avron is going to be at the helm for eight or nine songs, and then Babyface will do three songs, We've got 14 or 15 songs to bring into the studio, and we're going to look to have the thing in stores in late fall/ early winter.

I can't tell you the title yet, but it's gonna further polarize people. You're going to either love it or hate it, because it's a commentary on the scene. It's more conceptual than the last one.

Wentz is also hoping to entice the participation of fellow major labels acts My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday and an unnamed rapper who "will not be rapping."
