MC5 bassist Michael Davis Injured in motorcycle crash
MC5 bassist Michael Davis was injured in a motorcycle accident this past week. On Monday the 62 year old hit a dropped muffler with his Harley Davidson on a Los Angeles freeway. While he was wearing a helmet and leather jacket and is expected to recover, Davis did suffer a fractured spine, bruised ribs, and other abrasions. As a result his current band DKT (featuring surviving MC5 members Davis, Kramer and Thompson) have had to modify their upcoming tour schedule. The planned appearance at the Joey Ramone birthday bash on Friday, May 19th will still go forward, albeit with a different lineup. Wayne Kramer has announced that he will still appear at the show, and may perform with other musicians present at the event. Pending Davis' recovery the band is still expected to headline two Little Steven's Underground Garage Presents shows in Florida over Memorial Day Weekend.
