Punkvoter responds to MTV's "protest music" article
Another editorial has surfaced in the recent dialogue about protest music in America; this time from Punk Voter. The editorial explains:
It comes as a great surprise to us that MTV is even aware of protest music AT ALL based upon their complete lack of coverage and consistent stonewalling that took place when it mattered most during the election year of 2004.
Imagine if ESPN did nothing during the recent Winter Olympics and months later had stories like "Where did all the Olympic fever go?" or "Have the Olympics been forgotten?"
From our vantage, there's been a ton of recent records from bands speaking out. From NOFX to Tragedy and everywhere in between.
Before concluding: "Before they can even address the perceived absence of dissent in music, they need to get their shit straight. ."
