Sunday Edition: May 21st, 2006
It's Sunday May 21st, 2006. This past Friday was the Feast of St. Joey, and of course the annual Joey Ramone Birthday Bash in NYC. This year saw the likes of MC5's Wayne Kramer, the Strokes, Glen Matlock and the Philistines, Cheetah Chrome, Richie Ramone and Tommy Ramone appearing among others. That "punk rock pilgrimage" thrown by the Hungry March Band took place as well. Anyone with pictures or stories from the events feel free to share them below. RIP Joey.
Stories you were talking about this week
Just like last week, this week was dominated by the breakup of a band that was a huge part of the 90s punk scene for many of us, so farewell to Detroit's Suicide Machines. Protest music was in the news once again, with musicians like Tom Morello and Chuck D weighing in on the latest trends and PunkVoter commenting on MTV's sudden interest. There was lots of new media released this week, including three new NOFX live videos as well as exclusive streams from Angels and Airwaves and Less Than Jake. Ontario's Grade announced a reunion show while New Jersey's Lifetime continued their return with July tour dates. With the highly anticipated solo record arriving soon more details were announced on Greg Graffin's Cold As The Clay this week. Finally bassist Brent Wilson left popular act Panic At the Disco and plenty of you had something to say about it.
