Bomb the Music Industry forms donation-supported Quote Unquote Records

Members of Bomb the Music Industry have formed Quote Unquote Records. The label is planning to go a non-traditional route and rather than selling records, will be giving them away for free online, and asking satisifed fans to donate money to the bands and label.

The label explained:

[We] feel that record companies are doing a shitty job because they put too much money into records that don't sell. We do everything on a shoestring budget, give our records away for free and then ask: if you support us, spread the word, come to shows and maybe make a donation via paypal. that's the short version.

The label will be debuting with two upcoming releases. The first is the recently announced Bomb the Music Industry album, Goodbye Cool World and the second is from Matt Kurz and titled If You Can't Join 'Em, Beat 'Em. Both records are due out on June 13th, 2006.

Bomb the Music Industry released To Leave or Die in Long Island last year.
