Converge begin recording new album

Influential metal/hardcore act Converge have begun tracking for their upcoming full length. The band will work on their second full length for Epitaph. The album will follow the band's 2004 release You Fail Me and is expected sometime this year.

They had this to say:

And so it begins...We started tracking for our new album today. We plan on recording 13 songs for the release. The songs? These songs are a freight train, to us sounding larger and harder than any of our previous efforts.

With Kurt being the guiding light, we are handling all of the recording and engineering ourselves this time around. No need to bring anyone else in, not when we have the ability to collectively create the album we artistically envision.

Members of the band spent 2005 involved with a variety of projects, Bassist Nate Newton and Doomriders issued their first full length, Black Thunder last year. Drummer Ben Koller continues to tour with Cave In supporting their album Perfect Pitch Black.

Guitarist Kurt Ballou is busy producing and engineering records as well as writing a guitar tech column for AMP. Vocalist Jacob Bannon continues to work on his art and run Deathwish Inc.
