New York Times talks to New York Dolls
The New York Times has put together a detailed piece on the New York Dolls. The piece discusses the band's feelings towards some punk ("A lot of punk was really whiny,") and includes words from Mick Jones of the Clash who adds: "I grew my hair like Johnny Thunders's (Dolls' guitarist). The Clash took a lot from the New York Dolls. A lot."
The band's post-reunion lineup differs significantly from the 70s incarnation, since both guitarist Johnny Thunders and bassist Arthur Kane had passed away in the intervening years and the story discusses the reunion urged by Morrissey, as well as the band's new album, One Day It Will Please Us To Remember, which is also their first album of entirely new material since 1974's Too Much Too Soon.
