Ted Leo talks about upcoming album

With plans to be hitting the road later this month with Death Cab for Cutie, Ted Leo of
Ted Leo and the Pharmacists spoke with
Pitchfork about his debut for Touch and Go Records. The band is aiming for a Spring 2007 release.

Ted had this to say about the record:

It's a little more aggressive. In terms of sound, the drum sound and guitars and everything, kind of sounds like a 77 punk record. We did a lot of work on actually getting things like we wanted them to sound on the front end, and then listening back it was like, 'Wow that's the sound of an older record."

Of course, lest anyone get too concerned, Leo adds: "There's some piano on there, some more folky instruments. I played a lot of mandolin on it,"

The album will be his first since 2004's Shake The Sheets, released on the ill-fated Lookout! Records.
