Stooges announce 'The Weirdness' release date and tour plans
The Stooges have announced that their new album, titled The Weirdness, will be released March 20 via Virgin Records. The album marks the seminal band's first proper release in almost 34 years. Though full details on the album have not been provided, it will contain 16 tracks with song titles like "Trollin'," "ATM," "You Can't Have Friends," "My Idea of Fun," "Greedy Awful People" and "Free and Freaky." Frontman Iggy Pop had the following to say about the album:
At times, [the songs have] a lot of going for the fences, but there's a great deal of structure and attention to detail. We were very prepared, and we always have been any time we stepped into a studio.
The band will start touring in support of the album this spring. Along the way are plans to stop for a peformance at this year's South by Southwest festival in Austin, TX on March 17th.
