Tours: Bloc Party (March)
Bloc Party have announced some US dates set shortly after the release of their upcoming sophomore full length. The record is titled A Weekend in the City and is due out February 6th, 2007. The album follows up the band's acclaimed debut, Silent Alarm as well as the aptly titled companion remix album, Silent Alarm Remixed.
The dates represent the band's first visit to the United States since the ill-fated supporting gig with Panic! At the Disco which was cancelled due to drummer Matt Tong suffering from a collapsed lung. Looking back on that tour, Tong had this to say about the gig:
There should always be an inherent difference between playing music and expressing yourself without considering business factors, and the music becoming a means to an end and not being to entertain people or attain some sense of creative self-worth. You know, to be a rung in the ladder ... of a business empire.
