Germs biopic "What We Do is Secret" resumes filming
The Rhino Films production of What We Do Is Secret has resumed production after yet another setback.
The film aims to document the life and untimely death of Germs vocalist Darby Crash. While it does not cover his entire life, the movie focuses on Crash's "five-year plan" to become a legend before comitting suicide in 1980. To ensure that the film was true to the story, Director Roger Grossman enlisted the help ex-Germs guitarist Pat Smear, as well as members of Crash's family and others involved in the late '70s/early '80s Hollywood punk scene,
According to the update:
A little over a year ago we shot a good chunk of a great movie... and then the money ran out. But don't be sad. Be glad. We worked hard and raised the money we need to finish and we've been shooting the additional footage we need.
We are going to shoot one more day, this Sunday January 14th and will be recreating several very important Germs shows (time and location to be announced very soon!).
For the shoot, the producers are hoping to recruit extras for the crowd shots, with the aim of recreating shows spaning 1977 to 1981. For information on what they're looking for, and how you can part of the film, visit the myspace page setup for the film.
