New Music Roundup: Steakknife, Honeycreeper, Somme, Pigfish
Germany' s Steakknife have posted all of their previously released albums for free download. The group is also working on new material for a March release. The music can be found at the band's Last.FM page, just click on the respective cover of the album to download the individual tracks. Honeycreeper has released its first video for "The Man", a song off the band's debut album Freakqualizer. The video, shot in numerous locations throughout New York City, can be viewed on Honeycreeper's MySpace profile, on YouTube, and a high-quality version can be seen on the band's website.
Chicago two-piece band, Somme, has posted two tracks from their debut EP, Weight, which was recorded in one day at Steve Albini's legendary Electrical Audio Studios. Weight is the first of a two-part series of sister recordings, the second of which is planned for release later this year. The band has been described as "a spectacularly ambitious sonic marvel," with "key influences Spacemen 3, Jesus and Mary Chain, and Slow Riot-era Godspeed You Black Emperor." You can find the tracks at the group's MySpace page.
UK's Pigfish have returned after a two year hiatus with a new lineup, demos and a promised new album. The band blends elements of 2nd wave ska with hints of rockabilly, and a striking similarity to fellow Brits Snuff. You can check out some tracks at MySpace page.
