G7 Advertising Wars
From the G7: We had yet another run in with a queezy magazine this week. CHART Magazine (think mainstream 'alternative', like, MuchMusic 'alternative') refused to run this ad. Needless to say, we don't like being censored, but what can we expect? Turf 'em and move on right? It is pretty telling when laying down several hundred dollars (like, several several) can't even buy you the teeniest space to present an alternative (i.e. rational) viewpoint on an incredibly consequential topic to an audience who never hears one.
This is the latest reprimand of one our ever-saavy (ha) advertising campaigns. Previously we were pulled by the Warped Tour guide for an ad that recounted the horrible workers' rights and environmental records of tour sponsor Vans (sure it also said 'Fuck the Vans Warped Tour' in huge letters across the top, but that was just pretense). We've also been threatened with 'blacklisting' by a representative of Universal Music for our 'Universal has Genital Warts' and 'Edgefest = Shit' campaign.
