The Bodies: Making MRR Uncomfortable Is Our Business
'On Friday, 11/16/01, MAXIMUM ROCK' ROLL Zine Coordinator Mike Thorn contacted the TKO office and informed us that MRR would not be running our advertisement for the BODIES "Firepower Is Our Business" CD EP. The reason given was that the ad included an American flag, and the use of this image made them, the MRR staff, "uncomfortable."
Out of respect to the BODIES, all other bands that we work with, and the many people who buy our records and support the music we produce, TKO Records has decided to stop advertising in MRR. We will also no longer be submitting review materials to this publication. We believe in the freedom of speech and artistic expression of each and every one of the bands we have the honor of working with, and we absolutely refuse to bow to any form of censorship, under any circumstances.'
