Arts & Crafts sign the Constantines, the Stills
CBC Radio 3 has broken the news on two high profile additions to Toronto based Arts & Crafts, the indie label co–founded by Broken Social Scene's Kevin Drew and Virgin Records alum Jeffrey Remedios.
It was first announced that the label has snatched up Montreal's the Stills, who were formerly signed to Vice Records. That band's third album will be recorded in Montreal soon with an expected release date of Spring of 2008.
The label also looks to be the new home of Toronto–via–Guelph post–punk act the Constantines. There's no word yet if this merely takes over for the previous Canada–only deal they had with the now defunct Three Gut Records, or if this marks a departure with their current US label Sub Pop. A statement is expected next week. The band announced the signing on stage this past weekend at the Virgin Fest in Toronto. The Cons are planning to follow up 2005's Tournament of Hearts sometime soon.
