The A.K.A.s to record, keyboardist donates hair
The A.K.A.s have announced plans to begin recording this week with famed producer Alex Newport (At The Drive In, The Mars Volta) with plans to release in early 2008. The band has not disclosed a label, and has remained label–free since parting ways with Fueled by Ramen. Their last full length, White Doves & Smoking Guns, was released in 2003.
In related news, keyboard player Josie Outlaw recently chopped off her hair to donate to Locks of Love, an organization which provides hair pieces for children who have lost their hair due to illnesses such as cancer. To take it a step further, she has offered up her stylist skills for free haircuts on The A.K.A.s upcoming tour with Big D and The Kids Table and Whole Wheat Bread to anyone who wishes to donate their own hair.
