A note about news submissions...
Ok, this is a little bit of a rant on my part, but I think that the other editors feel the same way. There's a couple things I'd like to say:
Please stop submitting classified ads as news. We are not Punkclassifieds.org. Feel free to go start a site that is.
Please stop submitting completely random bands with their mp3.com sites asking to be mp3 of the week. It's my section, I pick it, and if you ask me to pick you I never would.
It's great if you saw an awesome band last night and want to tell people about it, but there is no way we'd ever post something that said "i wuz at this awesom party last night and a totaly bitchin band called jimbo and the crabs played and they roked, check um out." This isn't news. Please don't think it is.
It's great if you want people to find out about your band or your friend's band, but don't just submit news saying "we're called symphony of pain and we're good, go to our webpage here." Spice it up. Write it somewhat "professionally." Include upcoming shows/tour dates, links where people can check you out, a release date when your album is going to come out, etc. We're much more likely to post someone's news if they put a little bit of time [and information!] into it.
Lastly, and this goes for everyone: *please* watch your spelling and grammar. I know we're all "punk rockers" here, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't spell words correctly [sorry, I'm the son of an English teacher].
Okay, that's all I got, thanks for reading.
