John Reis (Rocket from the Crypt, Hot Snakes) talks 2008, RFTC DVD

John Reis, the mastermind behind bands like Rocket From The Crypt, Hot Snakes and Drive Like Jehu, has posted a big update on some of his plans for the upcoming year.

Among the key details is an update on his still–unnamed new project:

We have been working on this record for months. Dave Gardner who engineered Live From Camp X–Ray recorded most of it. We did it almost all at City Of Refuge (the new Drag Racist). Mixing is being done by Ben Moore as I type. The record will be done in another couple of weeks. We recorded 22 songs. We will finish 18 of them. Dunno how many of them will make their way on the record. As for release date, it definitely won't see the light o day til next year.

Finally, he adds there there will be some big releases for fans of Rocket From the Crypt and the Hot Snakes. First, Vagrant will apparently be releasing RFTC's last show on DVD+CD in "early 2008." Reis' own label, Swami Records, is promising a two–disc set from RFTC, presumably a repackaging of the two All Systems Go releases. Finally, a third new Hot Snakes live release, this time in the form of a DVD+CD.
