Iron Maiden tries the "free album" thing
Iron Maiden is the latest major act to try something new with regards to music distribution. According to an NME report, the veteran metal band will be releasing their greatest hits album, 'Somewhere Back In Time, as a free high–quality download from their website.
The catch is the 320kbps WMA format files will self–destruct after three listens after which point people will be able to purchase the album in a DRM–free format.
The album compiles music from the band's seven albums and one live album. It is due out May 12th.
