THE PUNKNEWS.ORG VINYL FILE
First things first, we'd like to congratulate Mathew McGuire of Livonia, MI. I'll be mailing him a Norma Jean box set as soon as I get back from some serious long weekending.
Now down to business,
Vinyl Collective has posted the second in their Vinyl podcast series. You can download the latest episode here as well as the first episode here. The newest episode contains vinyl news as well as music from Sweet Cobra, Russian Circles, In The Red, Man Man, and Propagandhi.
Team Science Records is now selling the To/From 10" from Matt & Kim. Only 1,000 are being pressed, and they can be ordered here. The records all come in silk-screened covers and are all on black vinyl.
Suburban Home's latest signing, Ninja Gun has their new album, Restless Rubes about to be released. It comes on both opaque peach and transparent green vinyl. Vinyl Collective is taking pre-orders for the record now.
Massachusetts hardcore act I Rise have a new 7" coming out. For Redemption won't be out until August, but you can pre-order it here. All orders come with a free download of the album, making it much, much easier to listen to in the car.
While Vinyl File was MIA, Asian Man went ahead and put up pre-orders for their upcoming vinyl versions of two Lawrence Arms albums. Both Ghost Stories and A Guided Tour of Chicago sold out in mere milliseconds, but Asian Man promises more will be on the way. There is no word on whether the re-presses will include silk-screened covers by the fine people over at I Heart You (but they will be different covers, even if silk-screened). Either way, those who missed out should be able to get their hands on a copy before too long.
Alkaline Trio's upcoming Agony and Irony is up for pre-order. All orders come with a free 7" containing "Help Me" as well as an exclusive track, "Wake Up Exhausted." Those who don't want to pre-order will be able to find the 7" in their local Hot Topics. Agony & Irony will be pressed on 180g black vinyl.
The season of pre-orders continues with Gilead Media, who are taking pre-orders for a split 12" between MOTA and Kenoma. There are 1,000 copies of the record split evenly between opaque blue and opaque purple. They stand to be shipping the second week of July.
Minus The Bear's debut full-length Highly Refined Pirates was recently re-pressed on red (/231), blue (/176) and purple (/17) vinyl. Of course, purple sold out in minutes with blue going quickly as well. At the rate this band is selling, you can likely expect another pressing in the near future.
Word on the street is that Pennsylvania's Innerpartysystem have pressed a 7" made completely from delicious chocolate. The 7" is only available in the UK, making it immune to the sweltering heat we're experiencing on this side of the Atlantic. Only 100 copies of the single for "Don't Stop" will be pressed, and apparently, if the chocolate is kept cold enough, the record will actually play.
Suburban Home will be releasing Avail's back-catalogue over the coming year. Starting with Over The James and with Dixie and 4 AM Friday to follow, all the records will include the features found on the recent Jade Tree re-issues of the albums on CD, including bonus tracks.
The Hold Steady's new album, Stay Positive is only weeks away from its street-release date. As with their other recent records, it will be available on vinyl, but this time only on black. The double-LP is now available for pre-order.
Jay Reatard has released a double-LP of his singles from 2006-2007. You can order the record here and are guaranteed not to get punched in the face by Reatard while listening to it.
Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes is getting ready to release his first self-titled LP, which is available to order from Merge Records now.
Vagrant Records and Cobraside Distribution will be jointly putting out
Saves The Day's Sound the Alarm album on vinyl for the first time next
week. The album will be limited to 3,000 total copies spread across
various colors, with a run of 300 exclusive to Nerd Alert Records. You
can preorder the album
