Chiodos looks ahead to new record
Davison, Michigan's Chiodos have a tenative release date of September 2009 for their third album and are in discussion with superstar producer Rick Rubin to produce. Rubin's of course been behind important releaes from Johnny Cash, Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Slayer, Beastie Boys, Metallica and others. The band tells Billboard that they plan to start writing in January in Lexington, KY. They've also indicated that they'll remain with Equal Vision Records for the new record, with frontman Craig Owens commenting that the label "can step up as much as any major can."
Chiodos will release a special version of their 2007 full length Bone Palace Ballet on October 28th. Bone Palace Ballet: Grand Coda will feature five new songs, acoustic versions of "A Letter From Janelle" and "I Didn't Say I Was Powerful" and a DVD.
Owens is also working on a number of side projects. He'll be part of a full length with Cinematic Sunrise, a group that features Chiodos keyboardist Bradley Bell, as well as a group featuring members of Circa Survive, Pierce The Veil, Amorosa and others. That project will be recorded with producer Casey Bates (Fear Before the March of Flames, Gatsby's American Dream) this December in Seattle.
