Silver Sprocket plans Ashtray, Hard Girls and The Albert Square
The Springman Records posse has announced two new releases this month from their Silver Sprocket Bicycle Club moniker.
The first is an untitled full-length split CD between San Jose, CA, bands The Albert Square and Hard Girls, the latter featuring members of Shinobu and Pteradon (Asian Man Records). Both bands cite Neutral Milk Hotel and The Weakerthans as influences, with The Albert Square leaning more towards Elvis Costello where Hard Girls lean more towards Jawbreaker. Both bands and have songs from the new record available on their myspace pages.
The record will be $5 at shows and by mail-order from Silver Sprocket, with a release show Friday December 5th at Nickel City in San Jose with Jessie Michaels of Operation Ivy, Mike Park and Kevin Seconds.
Also available this month is the first full length in four years from Santa Rosa, CA, natives, Ashtray, entitled The Power Of Positive Drinking. The record won't be in store until February, but is available now at shows and by mail-order.
Influenced by East Bay punk bands of the 80's and 90's, especially Blatz, this record featuers 14 high-energy beer-crusted drunk-punk anthems, including Silver Sprocket's official theme song, S.S.B.C., touting the virtues of drunken bike riding, which can be streamed on the band's myspace page.
