Deerhunter taking a hiatus
Atlanta's "ambient punk" act Deerhunter are taking a hiatus. Frontman Bradford Cox announced the news while performing at this weekend's All Tomorrow's Parties festival in Catskills, NY. Canadian music paper Exclaim is reporting that the band members intent to "devote time to some other things," and while they remain "best friends" the break would last "a long time."
The band has released a wealth of material recently. The group's third album Microcastle and the the bonus record Weird Era Cont were released last October. A digital EP titled Rainwater Cassette Exchange arrived this summer. Cox's solo project Atlas Sound has a full length arriving this October on Kranky.
